just interested to see how it would work in a bigger sample. how he would hold up in the playoffs

the thing simmons is elite at on offense is pushing the ball on the fast break and getting to the rim. he's basically lebron from a size and athleticism perspective when he has a head of steam on the fast break and a clear lane ahead of him. he's basically unguardable in that scenario. his FT shooting is abysmal which is the fly in the ointment but still he's in the top top percentile in the NBA in that scenario imo. so the other issue w/ playing him w/ a center is that it incentivizes you to play slow and in the halfcourt, which is counter to his skills as demonstrated so far in his career

he needs to play w/ lamelo ball

simmons is a career 60% ft shooter fwiw its not great but its not hacka territory either

if you just took ayton off the suns and put simmons in there i think you could make the argument that phoenix would be better. if you put real 3 and D and ballhandling/shooting talent around simmons and basically never put a guy who is taller than him on the floor w/ him, then i think you might have something. the sixers have basically had no guard talent the last several years and their best player is bigger than simmons. it's like the opposite of what he needs

one thing that would be cool if he went to portland is they could do the halfcourt fastbreak play that steph and dray run, one of the most devastating recent nba innovations, that almost no one else can do cause they dont have the skills

i think dray and simmons have similar skills and flaws, which doesnt make them the same player, but simmons should try to emulate dray i think that would be good for him

maybe even try to play with a lil passion why not

hard to emulate caring about hooping

fake it til you make it baby a tried and true approach for people who have not made it

feel like you guys are being a little stubborn about this because you love dray even tho he blew a title via nut hunting and chased an alltime great out of town, theyre both big men who are great ball handlers passers and defenders who cant shoot which is a pretty unusual combo, two of the only guys who can legit guard 1-5, their dispositions are obvs very different and simmons is a great transition finisher and is tall and athletic where dray is strong and low and a bad finisher, but overall theyre prob more similar to each other than they are to any other players

one of the big difference between them is dray has spent his career in the ideal role where simmons has spent his in the absolute wrong one

I just think it's funny that Simmons is somehow LESS of a shooter than Draymond, and that Draymond is like a "legit" center despite being like two feet shorter than Simmons or whatever.

dray plays center great but has never been there full time i guess because of concerns that it will take too much of a physical toll which i think does make sense for him hes such an effortful physical player that banging with the bigs all season would prob be too much for him or at least an injury risk, simmons plays more athletic less physical so i think itd be ok

anyway recruiting kd in the first place was the original sin, but once you do that you have to be nice to him hes a huge baby everyone knows that

Personally I have no problem with it. We got two rings out of the devil's bargain and now we get to root for a moderately fun squad. I'd take that any day.
