Just across this pretty good cover version of “I Can See For Miles” by Mark Lindsay and Wayne Kramer released as a digital single last year, apparently from a 2012 Who tribute album.

Apparently Mark Lindsay really needed to potty, and mean old Ed wouldn't let him...

PR&tR defy "Classic or Dud", they are equally both.

Mark Lindsay has a show on the Underground Garage channel on SiriusXM that focuses on all sorts of American Rock'n'Soul, and it's weird to hear him spout (probably scripted) enthusiasm for Apples In Stereo.

They could be a pretty good band - not a great one, but not one deserving of complete dismissal either. The original mono mixes are worth seeking out because all the stereo versions of their music have kind of sucked (either vintage or remixed). It was only in the last decade or so that a lot of them were finally made available in the digital age. (I think the Midnight Ride LP is really the only one left that truly deserves a mono reissue.)
Best heard via compilations, I just made my own - one single disc, almost all original mono mixes, and all that I need from them:

looks good. I'd probably add "Time after Time" and "Prince of Peace"

pretty good as far as stones rips go
drum intro to the track that follows on that album, "Ride on my Shoulder" = decent sample fodder.
