PBS is running a "My Music" special on Bacharach, with a bunch of nice vintage TV clips of Dionne & Dusty & the rest hosted by a tuxedo-clad Robert Wagner, who I'm certain is positively reeking of Drakkar Noir and dead starlets.

Nice.
I remember this poll rather fondly. I suspect I engaged in more hours of listening than for any other poll!

Ahhh, yeah, deleted. I made .csv files of all my big playlists when I ported everything over to Tidal in May, though, and I still have those. If you want the Bacharach one to recreate a Spotify playlist from, I can email you.

Sent. I added a few tracks to my version since I made the .csv -- Beach Boys, Walk On By (20/20 Sessions, a fragment but it makes the hair stand up on my neck); Mavis Staples, A House Is Not a Home; Another Tear Falls, Puddles Pity Party; Who Is Gonna Love Me, Charlie Byrd; Always Something There to Remind Me, Peggy, Lee; and an album called The Music of Burt Bacharach by some E-Z listening org called Pop Idols.

Also was just trying to think of the guy from Houston who was the missing link between Mark James, BJ Thomas and Scepter records, where he worked alongside Burt: Steve Tyrell. Believe he is now a cabaret singer doing a Burt tribute act.

Beautiful. That mix shares about 3/4s of the tracks with the "The Look of Love" compilation I grew up with. Bacharach tracks that I never really warmed to seem either "early" ("Magic Moments") or "late" ("That's What Friends Are For"). I've always had a bit of a feeling of frustration regarding the Jim O'Rourke cover of "Something Big", I feel like it's the musical equivalent of Gus Van Sant's "Psycho".

I found the liner notes to that box last year online: http://albumlinernotes.com/Look_Of_Love_Disc_3.htmlThis is what Serene Dominic said abit it in his essential Burt Bacharach: Song By Song:
The Look of Love: The Burt Bacharach Collection. Brilliantly annotated by Alec Cumming, Patrick Milligan and Paul Grein, this smartly packaged 3-CD set is by far the best-ever gathering of Bacharach hits. A licensing nightmare, it was announced and delayed several times by Rhino before appearing hot on the heels of Painted from Memory. It concludes with Elvis’s “God Give Me Strength.”Dominic, Serene.
