Was my guess, just curious. Works great for many people I've heard. Kinda frustrated because my doc has been hesitant to prescribe that because I don't have "true gout" apparently. I have a prescription for when I have a flare, but haven't had one in more than two years to worry about.

I fell on some ice a few days ago. My wrist hurt a little in the immediate aftermath, but the next day I woke up feeling like I'd been savagely beaten

the prednisone has helped a ton but my stomach doesn't like it. i'm still walking with an awkward limp but a little more swelling reduction and that's fixed

I know all the jokes about gout and what is historically represents, but holy shit that joint inflammation is some of the most intense pain I've felt in my life. The first time it ever hit me, before I was able to see a doctor and get anything prescribed, was in a knee about six years ago and every step was excruciating.

once it got to lifting my foot and putting a shoe on hurting like fuck yesterday is when i decided to go to the doc.

I learned at least 20 of my friends have gout, when I described my symptoms on FB. they all swore by cherry juice.

i haven't had much in the way of meat or alcohol in two days.

Heard that about cherries and cherry juice, but that didn't work for me (assuming since it's the false gout or whatever).

What was most frustrating for me is that it had virtually nothing to do with my diet. I'd talk to people with gout and they all described how they could almost always feel it coming on and knew the food triggers for it, but I didn't have that experience at all. Like my last flare from a couple years ago came right in the middle of one of my healthiest food streaks in a long time where I was completely off red meat and wasn't drinking alcohol at all. But in more recent pandemic years when I've been, uh, less good about my diet, absolutely no issues. It's weird.

I don't know how I DON'T have gout tbh. Seriously.

Anyway aging is a shark you have to punch in the nose every day. Hard. Stretch like your life depends on it (you will not have time to do this).

My son's school flag football team had an end of season thing a few weeks ago and roped some of the parents into playing against the kids. It was last minute and I did not stretch at all. Holy shit did I pay for that.

Stretching before a walk has recently become really important, or my lower back lets me know in no uncertain terms that I should’ve stretched.

about to turn 46 and i for sure feel like most people my age that I encounter seem so much older. These people have kids already out of college and shit, it's weird!

Yeah it always blows my mind anew a little bit when I realize that when my dad was my age, I was just about to start grad school!

I am relatively back pain-free, which I'm very glad about, but my shoulders have been hurting for several months now, which is not the best feeling to wake up to.

I've got a kid doing his GCSEs (16 in 2 months) and it blows my mind every day. I believe this knowledge is supposed to 'ground me' but nope, I find myself floating freer and further from reality every day.

I have friends whomst are roughly my age who I know through the music scene who are grandparents. That's mindboggling

I'm a year older than the biological grandmother of my adopted son.

Most of my friends/peer group didn't have kids until well into their 30s, so it's weird that my neighbors had kids in their very early 20s (unusual for all the academics I know) and are younger than me with one of their kids off to college already. They're going to be 40 year old empty-nesters in a year or two which blows my mind because my son wasn't born until I was 40.

I'm coming up on 25 years in the same apartment ... friend from college posted about the demise of their long-owned toaster oven, and I realized that I had the same model of toaster oven and it is actually older than their now deceased toaster oven. I have adult friends who are younger than my toaster oven.

I am 47 now and will take hot baths to reduce stiffness and aches in my knees. I think my mom started having arthritis in her knees when she was approximately my age, but when my mom was my age, I was away at college, so I don't know this for a fact.

barely BARELY into the next leg of my shoulder surgery recovery. Four weeks 24/7 in a brace and six in a sling, FUCK YOU. I am cheating on this last week and hoping it doesn't bite me in the ass but hey i work from home. Will see what my new PT guy tells me tomorrow. Waking up four times a night represents good sleep at this point.

My partner had two surgeries, same shoulder, this summer and it was hellish. Mind your shoulders, ppl.
