ok for this particular list of people I think I actually knew more about them than fucking jaymc does, but whatever. I used to live in knoxville and have personally met 2 out of the 5 on multiple occasions. I have never been friends with kenan or oops though.

I can see how this might seem kind of creepy online but the thing is, he's like this for everyone, not just online people. And I don't think it's something he actively works at, he just has this capacity to remember details about people. It's uncanny.

Nick is right, JMZ remembered going on a trip to some city in OH or IN like ten years ago, and there was a chamber of commerce brochure that mentioned Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments and despite the fact that he had never heard of them, he REMEMBERED that, all these years. Until recently, when I asked if they were any good and he was like "I don't know, but they were mentioned by the blah blah blah in 1997" or whatever and I knew I was in the presence of greatness.

I don't think it's creepy that I remember/know things, but I don't think it's right that I share things that haven't previously been shared, or as to which the person mentioned might want to limit sharing. maybe it's like a kind of savant-ism? and b/c most people don't have such abilities, in this case, grand recall, when another's (memory) abilities begin to become obvious, it's kind of weird/creepy. but really, it's just part of who they are. which is not to say it stops being creepy, but it becomes more like, well, just a thing. it does impress me. but look, also: last wkend was spent in the presence of ned and this wkend in the presence of jaymc, right? so i'm all, whoa, OKAY., yeah, re: such things. (and now i sortof wonder what my savantism might be.)

or how much you care? I mean, I might tend to remember things about the people I find more interesting, but if another Ilxor is interested in a different set of people, I might be mildly taken aback by how much they know about people I pay less attention to. Maybe jaymc is just interested in more Ilxors than anyone else.

yeah, i can remember all kinds of weird little things about people, events, trivia, etc, but can't remember phone numbers, a lot of names, card games, etc. So, yeah, maybe not issues of savantism, but of different brane wiring, what dif people pay attn to, etc.

e.g., this is my kind of "review": Elmo/Andrew is from/in Providence, likes teh music, smokes, seemed kinda quiet, often has eyes at half-mast.
