you must be baptized in the Admin Log Watch 2. feel the impermanence of the posts which move around you and know the yellowcard, too, will be swept away like so many posts into the Previous Page.

(i think it lasts several days, tops. a mod can probably remove it earlier.)

pickle loaf (Sufjan Grafton), Wednesday, 16 March 2022 06:05 (two years ago) link

How long does the big warning banner telling me I was yellow carded appear every time I log on?

― Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Wednesday, 16 March 2022 bookmarkflaglink

When I was banned for a week I could look but not post. Just cold, hard reality which sits fine with me.

Yellow carding sounds worse tbh.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 16 March 2022 10:53 (two years ago) link

They don’t show up on zing so when I’ve been comedy yellow carded I wouldn’t even see it, just read about it on the admin log

wins, Wednesday, 16 March 2022 11:20 (two years ago) link

i tried to see if i could remove the yellow card, but i don't have that option

sarahell, Wednesday, 16 March 2022 16:51 (two years ago) link

It’s vanished now, very mysterious. Thanks for checking!

Tsar Bombadil (James Morrison), Wednesday, 16 March 2022 23:25 (two years ago) link

Yellow cards just disappear on their own after 3 days or so.

According to new CDC guidelines.

Thursday, March 17, 2022 9:09 AM Site the world's undisputed #1 fan of 'Spud Infinity' (Karl Malone) has been banned permanently.

was this self-requested or ...

ah! lol ... my Admin Log reaction time is too quick ... sorry other mods!

sarahell, Thursday, 17 March 2022 16:23 (two years ago) link

for the record, for approximately a couple minutes, the reason column was blank, so it was a mystery.gif

sarahell, Thursday, 17 March 2022 16:24 (two years ago) link

it's strange how FPs seem to lag so far behind the offending posts. a cohort of ilxors waiting for the clusterfuck season to finish, so they can watch it all at once.

pickle loaf (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 17 March 2022 16:28 (two years ago) link

Sometimes we will take upwards of a minute or two, maybe even five whole minutes, to amend the log. Do you use a script that auto-refreshes that page? xp

Everybody Loves Ramen (WmC), Thursday, 17 March 2022 16:29 (two years ago) link

xp WmC: lol no -- i just had magical timing? ... also, for some reason the system won't let me add a reason in that column when I yellowcard or threadban someone

sarahell, Thursday, 17 March 2022 16:33 (two years ago) link

idk if it's my lack of tech acumen or if it's a "limited mod powers thing" but those features don't work when I try to do them, along with deleting posts

sarahell, Thursday, 17 March 2022 16:35 (two years ago) link

maybe head mod can please edit the mouseover text in this Diagram of the ILX Mod Hierarchy?

imago, Monday, 21 March 2022 12:39 (two years ago) link

It does have different shades of meaning over there. And he didn't even level that as an accusation this time around (it was "posh" and I'm sure that was not the word what got him FP'd). I was just ragging on him because it's a tired schtick. As a middle-class guy who struggles daily, I kinda wish he'd call off the class war.

peace, man, Monday, 21 March 2022 12:41 (two years ago) link

Well shit. Tensions appear to be running high atm, so many fucking bans.

I was just coming on here to say that in lieu of finding any previously-stated rule, we've decided that the precedent with Van Horn Street is that two 20-in-a-month bans will just be week-long ones each time. If you get two minibans you're pretty close to a month-long ban so we figure keeping it simple should work better.

emil.y, Monday, 21 March 2022 14:09 (two years ago) link

welcome back buzza!

sarahell, Monday, 21 March 2022 14:12 (two years ago) link

"Middle class" just means "normal" here--something like 90% of people in the US identify as middle class. As for me, I'm trailer trash and know it.

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Monday, 21 March 2022 14:18 (two years ago) link

Yeah the UK def of middle class is kind of an outlier even amongst European countries I think. Still not entirely sure if "upper class" is reserved solely for the aristocracy here.

Daniel_Rf, Monday, 21 March 2022 14:24 (two years ago) link

Boris Johnson is considered middle class by some people but he's upper class to me. Keir Starmer, Jess Phillips, awful people like that are middle class.

Sunday, March 20, 2022 6:33 PM Site calzino has been banned permanently. 50 FPs in the last 6 months (43 in the last month). 1 month ban from posting. Unban date 20 April 2022

Rhonda!, Monday, 21 March 2022 14:36 (two years ago) link

something like 90% of people in the US identify as middle class

There's no way 90% *are* middle class though, I'm certain the working class is a lot larger than anyone wants to admit, likely to themselves.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Monday, 21 March 2022 22:22 (two years ago) link

That's what I was saying. Also, "working class" basiclly means "underclass" in the US.

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Monday, 21 March 2022 22:37 (two years ago) link

that's the scam

the god-fearing poor think they're moments away from being rich and having the coastal homo globalists tax them at 90%

mookieproof, Monday, 21 March 2022 23:03 (two years ago) link

When Americans say middle class they mean homeowners.

When the British say middle class they mean the bourgeoisie.

the thin blue lying (suzy), Monday, 21 March 2022 23:24 (two years ago) link

nah, there are plenty of renters who consider themselves "middle class" in America

sarahell, Tuesday, 22 March 2022 00:15 (two years ago) link

Usually those people will have been raised by home-owning parents so I’m sure my point stands.

the thin blue lying (suzy), Tuesday, 22 March 2022 08:19 (two years ago) link

When Americans say middle class they mean homeowners.

When the British say middle class they mean the bourgeoisie.

Intriguing post, but to me "bourgeoisie" feels a bit of a punt, ie a straight synonym for middle class (and up), so nothing has actually been said about the British? But I am neither native UK, US or Anglophone, so please school me on "bourgeoisie".
