i think he prob just liked having the secret stuff and he has a known interest in nukes but also part of him liking secret stuff is because it could be used in a deal because he likes deals

lag∞n, Friday, 12 August 2022 14:29 (one year ago) link

saudis trying to get nukes would be very weird since theyre firmly under the usa protectorate and a big part of that arrangement is not getting nukes, however mbs is an ultra hawk so its possible that he could be trying to take the country in a new direction

lag∞n, Friday, 12 August 2022 14:34 (one year ago) link

and if they wanted to get nukes they could surely do it without dealing with the cop magnet donald trump, but that of course doesnt mean they wouldnt do it, or maybe trump just thought they would like it, trying to sweeten the pot on jareds deals or something who knows, none of it makes sense but it wouldnt surprise me

lag∞n, Friday, 12 August 2022 14:36 (one year ago) link

here comes president deals again

Warning: Choking Hazard (Hunt3r), Friday, 12 August 2022 14:40 (one year ago) link

I mean, it also doesn't mean Trump wouldn't try to make a deal with them anyway, which is a problem enough on its own. Doesn't make it less terrible just because he failed to make the deal.

back when he tried to trade ordinance and codes for greenland and keep it under the salary cap, but couldn't get it done. he needs a win here.

Warning: Choking Hazard (Hunt3r), Friday, 12 August 2022 14:43 (one year ago) link

Let me guess, if he denies it and says the evidence was planted then... nothing happens...again.

Buckfast At Tiffany's (Tom D.), Friday, 12 August 2022 14:45 (one year ago) link

He's too dumb to be a master criminal, I don't buy the idea of him having this stuff around to sell off to the highest bidder.

Buckfast At Tiffany's (Tom D.), Friday, 12 August 2022 14:47 (one year ago) link

I dont buy that he wanted it as a souvenir, dude didn't give a shit about it even when he was in office

frogbs, Friday, 12 August 2022 14:48 (one year ago) link

like gee willikers didn't he just say a week ago that we haven't gotten to the bottom of 9/11 yet

frogbs, Friday, 12 August 2022 14:50 (one year ago) link

My bet is he was trying to take something to do with ufos or unexplained phenomena and accidentally put some nuclear stuff in the boxes.

Am I the only one wondering “what IS nuclear stuff”?

Bruce Stingbean (Karl Malone), Friday, 12 August 2022 14:58 (one year ago) link

nuclear is unclear

Evan, Friday, 12 August 2022 14:59 (one year ago) link

It’s...how to make a bomb tutorial? No. Passwords? Maybe (?) but hopefully they change them after five-year-olds are president? Locations of secret uranium stocks or refineries? A list of top ten nuclear explosions of all time? Rolodex of nuclear experts that you can just call and they tell you how it all works?

Bruce Stingbean (Karl Malone), Friday, 12 August 2022 15:01 (one year ago) link

What is the document that can be sold to another country for billions of dollars

Bruce Stingbean (Karl Malone), Friday, 12 August 2022 15:01 (one year ago) link

basically every government thing nuclear is classified by default and theres tons of it could be anything

Great little story from @mjgault on classification and the nuclear enterprise. https://t.co/aAF0kpo6a1

A set of plutonium golf tees

Halfway there but for you, Friday, 12 August 2022 15:04 (one year ago) link

apparently he handed over 15 boxes of classified material to the national archives a few months ago but specifically declined, i guess, to include whatever these documents are

treeship., Friday, 12 August 2022 15:08 (one year ago) link

also like, if he's had these documents for over a year, how could the fbi "take them away"? wouldn't there likely be copies of whatever it is he wanted?

treeship., Friday, 12 August 2022 15:09 (one year ago) link

*lord of the rings voice* my precious hehe

lag∞n, Friday, 12 August 2022 15:09 (one year ago) link

Maybe he thought Biden needed the info and that these were the only copies.

ok lol I'd missed the part about him making this a felony: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/08/10/trump-fbi-search-surveillance-law/

If Trump is found to have violated federal law in removing and retaining classified documents without authorization, he could be convicted of a felony punishable by five years in prison. And that conviction would be a felony carrying that punishment because of a law signed by President Donald Trump.

rob, Friday, 12 August 2022 15:42 (one year ago) link

Not sure you just wanna be admitting it like this

New Trump statement just dropped:

He heard that his predecessor, who may or may not be a radical Islamic terrorist, kept "lots" of classified nuclear documents. pic.twitter.com/T3scYJcv6o

18 months after trump leaves:

"Hey can you pull me the file on the nuclear gizmo?"

"sure. hmmm, shit!"

"what's up?"

"folder is empty... wait, there's some old french fries at the bottom?"

"...are they moldy?"

"no, but how-"

"mcdonalds"

Evan, Friday, 12 August 2022 15:56 (one year ago) link

Guys 33 million pages seems way worse! That’s a lot more boxes just sitting on Martha’s Vineyard!

Bait Kush (Eric H.), Friday, 12 August 2022 15:56 (one year ago) link

wow that's like 3 copies of infinite jest

Evan, Friday, 12 August 2022 15:57 (one year ago) link

as a side note, the 33 million documents to which you will see many references in the coming days are documents set aside for the Obama presidential library. they are not boxes of documents that Obama is personally holding on to at his private residence.

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Friday, 12 August 2022 15:58 (one year ago) link

Wow, if the FBI has waited 1,999 days to get those nuclear documents back from Obama then they're worse at their jobs than I thought. Sad!

I just googled and there’s even more nuclear documents on the web, Wikipedia alone- tons on nuclear

snitch

President Keyes, Friday, 12 August 2022 16:09 (one year ago) link

Fox News is also going with the sweet innocent baby angle

Fox's Sean Duffy floats a new Trump raid talking point -- Trump didn't pack the boxes from the White House, so he doesn't know what's in them.

"Do you think that he went through the boxes at Mar-a-Lago? Do you think he knows what he had in those boxes? I don’t think he did." pic.twitter.com/UZOOXbtx8c

do we actually know they included launch codes? or is launch codes sort of a shorthand for "detailed operational plans" or something?

death generator (lukas), Friday, 12 August 2022 16:28 (one year ago) link

we dont know what was in there all nuclear stuff of which there is tons is default classified and cannot be declassified by the president is my understanding based on reading a few articles and many tweets over the last couple days

lag∞n, Friday, 12 August 2022 16:30 (one year ago) link

word is now that these may be the NOC lists, which is the thing Tom Cruise stole in Mission Impossible lol

Anyone consider that maybe Trump just wanted to make nuclear weapons?

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 12 August 2022 16:36 (one year ago) link

For the moment, I'm just gonna pretend that we live in the world where this shit actually produces results instead of the world where he once again eludes any semblance of consequence before stealing the 2024 election and establishing the Trump dynasty of god emperors.

I wonder if he is going to try to retroactively declare Mar- a - Lago as a presidential library and claim anyone could have made an appointment to see the “nuclear”.

Republicans who days ago were near-united in blasting the Justice Department are allowing that nuclear weapons-related materials at Mar-a-Lago might be problematic.
