i'm sure trump hates his guts, but barr did him a major solid by putting out that memo (or press release? I don't remember) that purportedly summarized the findings of the Mueller report, weeks/months before that report became public. he straight up lied to protect Trump. he made it seem like an exoneration for Trump. Even now, to this day, since no one ever reads shit like the Muller report, even many/most liberal/left people have no idea how damning it was (and even that, from Mueller's team, seeming to bend over backward for Trump at every point)

Didn't the unredacted version of the Mueller report he summarized just come out a few days ago, revealing ... nothing? Or did I miss something.

barr is a pile of steaming shit but the part in that clip about how long the DOJ should be expected to wait before acting is pretty solid

xpost i didn't know that an unredacted version just came out, i wasn't trying to reference current news, whoops. but...

it wasn't the redactions that were the problems with it. i'm talking about criticisms that were evident as soon as the Mueller report came out. differences between how Barr described them (falsely, inaccurately "leaked" it, more like) and what the actual contents of the released report were.

I've a hunch that Barr is deeply offended that, after Trump hired him as AG, he's publicly employed a long list of lawyers who are complete hacks and fools, thus forcing Barr to be associated with them in the public mind.

forgive my being slow on the uptake but it recently crystallized for me that (one explanation for why) the core cult simps for him so hard is because he’s an avatar of all the privileges: white, male, straight, cis, rich. he can’t break the law because he is the law. he can’t ever face consequences because he can’t ever be wrong. that’s why every foul thing he says and does just cleaves those fuckheads closer to him. his untouchableness, his absolute freedom to publicly indulge in every lowest stupidest harefulest impulse, is a reflection and amplification of their own privilege (actual or aspirational).
