what the hell does she have to do with food lol

Dr. Phil, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 16:04 (fourteen years ago) link

No Reservations is billed as a travel show with an emphasis on food, and often has little to do with food.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 17:23 (fourteen years ago) link

also, just saw a few seconds of that clip...we're 2/3rds done with season 5 of the Wire and have last night's No Reservations on the DVR. Can anybody tell me if there's any spoilers in the show last night? Like does Bourdain say "Snoop, it was awesome how that spaceship came in at the end of season 5!"

dan selzer, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 17:29 (fourteen years ago) link

nope

mcnulty dies

Dr. Phil, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 17:44 (fourteen years ago) link

Bunk was a ghost all along.

chap, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 17:47 (fourteen years ago) link

thats fucking hilarious Dr. Phil. Now if it's true, that really sucks that you told me, and if it's not true and you're thinking you're funny, it still sucks because I'm thinking about it. Pretty lame.

It was obvious Bunk was a ghost and season 3 was just a dream. In any case, I won't be looking at this thread again for a while.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 17:49 (fourteen years ago) link

Season 5 is when they go back in time.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 17:57 (fourteen years ago) link

they fire all the homicide detectives and replace them with a little boy who can see and talk to dead people.

free jazz and mumia (sarahel), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 19:30 (fourteen years ago) link

McNulty is transported in the 70s and is haunted by Bowie lyrics -- is it an hallucination or is it real?

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 19:39 (fourteen years ago) link

It ends with a costumed dance number featuring everyone who ever appeared in the show.

free jazz and mumia (sarahel), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 19:42 (fourteen years ago) link

all the wire and deadwood stars need to have a showdown on lost. ian mcshane is done with kings, right?

^ lie

thomp, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 20:23 (fourteen years ago) link

although, in a broader sense, true: you see, mcnulty has been dead all along. it's a real headfuck.

thomp, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 20:24 (fourteen years ago) link

Boadie sees dead people ...

free jazz and mumia (sarahel), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 20:30 (fourteen years ago) link

What, Snoop was born in 1980! Meaning she was 27 in season 5 of the wire.

That's almost as ridiculous as Michael K. Williams being 41 at the same time.

Kommen sie bitte und listen to Kraftwerk (EDB), Wednesday, 29 July 2009 00:47 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh wow, he really was 41! That is ridiculous.

Avon Barksdale played Jimi Hendrix in a TV movie.

And check this safe sex ad starring various Wire peeps:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzTM6BiUoqo

Seeing as he spent much of the series, "ball deep in random pussy" as Bunk put it, McNutty is hardly the most obvious person to support safe sex!

Okay, I'm part-way through season 4 of Oz and so far: Norman (Reg Cathey), Daniels, Herc, Carver, Lester, Brianna Barksdale, Bodie, Burrell, and I think one of the East Side dealers (in a flashback showing him shot at a dice game).

free jazz and mumia (sarahel), Tuesday, 4 August 2009 19:01 (fourteen years ago) link

Bunk in Hackers is great, you can see even at that early stage his suit-acting is at a very high level, getting lots of mileage out of doing his jacket up. Brother Mouzone is also in Hackers for a second.

ogmor, Tuesday, 4 August 2009 19:47 (fourteen years ago) link

I don't think anyone's mentioned Burrell in that upcoming quirky-aspie movie Adam. Based on the trailer, his character's purpose is to sit on a park bench and dispense wisdom.

jaymc, Tuesday, 4 August 2009 20:02 (fourteen years ago) link

I think that was also his role in Freejack.

free jazz and mumia (sarahel), Tuesday, 4 August 2009 20:07 (fourteen years ago) link

Also: Brianna Barksdale as a political consultant on The West Wing.

jaymc, Tuesday, 4 August 2009 20:08 (fourteen years ago) link

I was sad that Herc only lasted a couple episodes in Oz. I had high hopes for him.

free jazz and mumia (sarahel), Tuesday, 4 August 2009 20:09 (fourteen years ago) link

high rapey hopes

Namond's badass mommy De'londa played a flight attendant on Leverage.

It took a while for me to recognise her without the big hair and fur coat...

Rhonda Pearlman played an FBI agent on last weeks Law and Order CI. I really hoped she was going to be an assistant DA.

in hackers i was more distracted trying to remember where i'd seen the gay dude before -- it was as sally-cant-dance in Con Air -- and by it being pretty terrible.

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Sunday, 16 August 2009 22:04 (fourteen years ago) link

Reg E Cathey was really good in Oz.

Fellow also got taken to dinner by Michelle Pfeifer. Can't relate to a straightforward yes/no critical stance on hackers
