insta switched to an awful side-menu view in my browser a few days ago. there is literally a frame with a scroll bar when i look at my notifications. also i can't see the 'following' option when i click the logo anymore.
i followed a bunch of random gays and drag queens because i do my dj promotion on insta. sounds fun in theory but boy does my timeline get monotonous.

I was looking at the Twitter Blue features the other day and it's funny but half of the features are just.. there.. if you use a third-party client and not the official Twitter one (or the website)
I hope Elon doesn't remember that third-party clients exist

If you have a verified account, it's a tab that shows only mentions by other verified accounts. (I know this because I once ran a brand account for work.)

One reason I finally deleted was forcing myself to face how much time I was spending reading replies from UK-based terf nightmare freaks. I don't know anyone in real life who would express those views and had to recognize that "being aware" of this shit isn't any kind of actual politics

The death of Google Reader is what prompted me to create my twitter account, which I originally just used as a news aggregation service (I have yet to tweet, I guess I should get around to that before it's too late). I really should go back to rss feeds, it was a much healthier way to get my news.

around the time I'd built enough of a network of people who were sharing articles on google reader and commenting with some good interaction, they killed it
people building a community and interacting by talking about links? who would want that?

Nice threads about what was good about twitter and why the likes of tik tok won't work.
What I like(d) about Twitter, and what I’ll look for from whatever comes next: I joined Twitter in 08 or 09. The thing that mattered in those early days was that ties were unidirectional (following), not bidirectional (friending). (1/x)— dave karpf (@davekarpf) November 5, 2022

I downloaded my archive last week and have tweeted less than a dozen times since. I don't really give a fuck about my old tweets, which are preserved in a gigantic javascript file, though. I'll probably just toss it.

Downloaded mine last weekend as well. Takes up a small space on my hard drive -- could probably back it up elsewhere too, so I'll likely do that. It may not be of specific use but good to have it regardless.

Xp I did not but lots of people do. Someone should write a list of all the names for tech company employees. Tweep might be the worst though.
Mailchimp employees call themselves peeps as seen in this deranged memo from the ceo
One month before Mailchimp CEO Ben Chestnut stepped down as CEO, he sent a 1,400-word email to employees about the use of preferred pronouns internally. He told workers (he calls them "peeps,") the practice was harmful — even coercive. Read it in full: https://t.co/DryNxqQzrR— Zoë Schiffer (@ZoeSchiffer) October 20, 2022

that usage of the word 'peeps' is just colloquial and short for 'people', I don't believe it's how mailchip employees referred to themselves.

I was at work once for close to 92 hours straight. I went home twice over the course of that time to shower and change and had to be back at the office within the hour. We even took turns napping.
