To further Milo’s post, which I think is essential, it’s 22 African countries: a lot of it is counter-terrorism under the dumb name Operation Enduring Freedom (now Juniper Shield!) and/or anti-piracy (Somalia) and there’s basically even less transparancy about these operations than say Iraq and Afghanistan, a lot of it is training locals but there’s obviously situations where new weaponry and tech can be purchased and added to an autocrat’s arsenal so ymmv. There’s also the big camp in Djibouti that’s been there since the early 00s. However, it’s not all bad, sometimes it takes the form of medical assistance (like in Ghana this past year or so).
