Thinking about Trump’s need to stay relevant and be in the headlines all the time. I’m starting to rethink my default stance which is that he needs to die or go to prison as soon as possible. If he manages to cling to life and relevance for another decade or two- how much chaos and dissension can he throw into the Republican ranks going forward? The more that Republican leadership finds it necessary to repudiate him or what he says- he has always had a need to punch back harder- how will it feel for them now, the more that his ire is turned toward those who had enabled him in the past? They have a monster to deal with now, who commands a huge portion of their support but who no longer has the ability to win big elections for them. I had hoped back in 2016 that he would fracture the Republican party and dash their plans, hopes, and expectations for the next several decades. Obviously his winning the presidency was a disaster from which we will take generations to recover- especially as regards the Supreme Court- but lately it’s starting to feel more like he is an albatross around their necks. I’m honestly starting to root for him to continue fucking up their plans to dominate the country and rewrite the Constitution, as opposed to just dying and getting swept under the rug. I’m not sure how this makes me feel- I’ve been monitoring the news daily for over 5 years now, waiting for him to die so I can dance on his grave. Now, I kind of want to see how much damage he can do to the Republican party. He’s like a wild card that they somehow never adequately planned for turning against them.
