this is how i break it down to an extent:

1 musk thinks hes doing something?

2 taibbi and weiss see an opportunity to pick up more subscribers to their newsletters

3 the whole thing is extremely low effort on everyones part

This is like them getting hold of their ex's phone and scrolling through the texts to see what a snake they were

And then posting screenshots of the time their ex emailed their friends to ask about a surprise gift as proof that they were "sneaking around".

i've seen ppl say there are like 5x more ads than ever but i hardly see any any more -- i have blocked a lot down the years (a LOT) but i can't have blocked them all. i do normally see them like second post down if i click on someone's account but i just tried blocking the first one i say doing that and now i'n no longer getting them that way either!

fwiw it was only below where it needed to be since musk tried to destroy the company during 2022. net income was positive in every quarter since 2017 except Q2 2020 and the last two. it was a profitable business! except for one quarter when the world stopped, and two quarters when the business was paralyzed by musk. room to improve? sure. but it wasn't a loss-making business until he started fucking with it.
