i didn’t think twitter counted as a gatekeeper under the EU definition
― Tracer Hand, Sunday, 18 December 2022 19:58 (one year ago) link
seems like they would
Obligations for GatekeepersThe DMA only places obligations on “gatekeepers,” which are companies that create bottlenecks between businesses and consumers and have an entrenched position in digital markets. The DMA’s threshold is very high: companies will only be hit by the rules if they have an annual turnover of €7.5 billion within the EU or a worldwide market valuation of €75 billion. Gatekeepers must also have at least 45 million monthly individual end-users and 100,000 business users. Finally, gatekeepers must control one or more “core platform services” such as “marketplaces and app stores, search engines, social networking, cloud services, advertising services, voice assistants and web browsers.” In practice, this will almost certainly include Meta (Facebook), Apple, Alphabet (Google), Amazon, and possibly a few others.

I think we've made this point here, but worth repeating. They don't really want the lefties and progressives to leave, they just want to be able to abuse them without consequence.
Elon Musk is running the left off this app but the gag is the right doesn’t want to be here alone—what they want is to harass us and see what we’re talking about so they can create strawman reactionary arguments. Otherwise they’d have been happy w/ Truth Social but never were— Olayemi Olurin (@msolurin) December 18, 2022

― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Sunday, 18 December 2022 20:56 (one year ago) link
They being "the right" in this formulation.
Yeah, I think that is kind of the idea or at least the fantasy — a broad platform where right-wing views can reach a general audience without interference by leftists, fact-checkers, journalists, or anyone who might contest their worldview. The problem with that idea obviously is that to make it a reality you have a create a space so unwelcoming that you're going to drive off a lot of your general audience too.
