It's remarkable how many people who've never run any kind of company think they know how to run a tech company better than someone who's run Tesla and SpaceX.— Paul Graham (@paulg) November 16, 2022

I think we've made this point here, but worth repeating. They don't really want the lefties and progressives to leave, they just want to be able to abuse them without consequence.
Elon Musk is running the left off this app but the gag is the right doesn’t want to be here alone—what they want is to harass us and see what we’re talking about so they can create strawman reactionary arguments. Otherwise they’d have been happy w/ Truth Social but never were— Olayemi Olurin (@msolurin) December 18, 2022

not sure, I think they want a space where the right can influence more a passive center and Twitter can be that (more) on this trajectory

they?
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Sunday, 18 December 2022 20:56 (one year ago) link
They being "the right" in this formulation.
Yeah, I think that is kind of the idea or at least the fantasy — a broad platform where right-wing views can reach a general audience without interference by leftists, fact-checkers, journalists, or anyone who might contest their worldview. The problem with that idea obviously is that to make it a reality you have a create a space so unwelcoming that you're going to drive off a lot of your general audience too.

During today’s launch of @TwitterBlue the SF team experienced two literal fire drills. The first one happened at HQ and led us to a Starbucks where we kept rolling out the release, then the coffee shop had its own fire drill — sending us back to HQ to finalize the roll out. 🤣🔥 pic.twitter.com/bYsJdZyVXs— Esther Crawford ✨ (@esthercrawford) December 13, 2022

The Twitter owner threatened legal action, changed the platform’s rules and suspended journalists’ accounts after a confrontation involving his security team at a gas station. But the incident’s timing and location cast doubt on a link to the @ElonJet account.
