I think we've made this point here, but worth repeating. They don't really want the lefties and progressives to leave, they just want to be able to abuse them without consequence.

Yeah, I think that is kind of the idea or at least the fantasy — a broad platform where right-wing views can reach a general audience without interference by leftists, fact-checkers, journalists, or anyone who might contest their worldview. The problem with that idea obviously is that to make it a reality you have a create a space so unwelcoming that you're going to drive off a lot of your general audience too.
