We had a guy who ran along the main roads wearing a backpack (local lore said it was filled with weights) with a look of absolute agony on his face, head bopping up and down in rhythm. Regular sighting for a good 10 years at least.

Oh this is about another thing. Yes, I would mentally do that too. Though not a man, just a nebulous object that would grind and hop the telephone wires and poles.

my best friend would do it with our car after we left his house, but he was an oddball. one time he got off the school bus, waiting for it to turn back around, then dove out of the way dramatically, throwing his books wildly in the air and landing hard in the street, to make it look like he'd almost been hit by the bus. he thought this was hilarious.

Does seeing ghosts on the side of a country road at night count?

there was a man that we snagged on our car and dragged for several blocks while my parents were blackout drunk driving, but I'm not supposed to talk about it

i didn't have a guy but that was because i was too focused on the telephone poles and the lines connecting them. i wish i had circa's skateboarder but i was just obsessed with their regularity and kind of mentally "clicking" whenever they'd pass a certain point on the window. not unlike how you "play" in guitar hero

up on the rooftop click click click

forks have i told you about my "counting game"? it kind of has to do with the person who runs next to the car

Karl Malone, Sunday, 25 December 2022 01:15 (one year ago) link

awooooo

well long story short, it's very basic and has to do with assigning musical durations to every word and letter -- letters generally count as an eighth note, capitalized letters are a quarter, spaces are an eighth rest, periods are a quarter rest. "perfect" words or phrases are ones that amount to a standard 4/4 bar. There are exceptions -- "I" only counts as a lowercase 8th note since it is almost always followed by a space/eight rest. It's just cleaner that way. I am a counting fool

Karl Malone, Sunday, 25 December 2022 01:25 (one year ago) link

and...i used to do the counting game along with the telephone poles in the car

this is what happens when your parents don't listen to music. let it be a warning to all current parents who don't listen to music

That’s extremely relatable
