i'm reading https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/591675/american-made-by-farah-stockman/. it seems like a book length version of those NYT-on-safari-in-a-diner industrial midwest things, padded out to book length. and i guess it kind of is. but it's pretty good and th length allows her to talk a lot more about local labor history, etc. while still ultimately being a long profile of a couple of specific trump voters.

anyway, my point is, reading it, i feel confident that 1) these kinds of voters are not going to turn out for trump again en masse 2) they will never turn out for desantis.

Just a reminder about Ohio and pay for play politics. This story seemed to really go under the radar with the orange infants incessant crying.

Donald Trump and a group of individuals incarcerated for their alleged involvement in the Jan. 6 riot have collaborated on a song called “Justice for All.” It will debut Thursday at midnight on streaming services, including Apple Music and Spotify, according to a person with knowledge of the project.

The track interpolates Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance into “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which is performed by a group of about 20 inmates, called the J6 Prison Choir, housed at the Washington, D.C. jail. The song ends with the inmates chanting, “USA!”

Profits are slated to benefit the families of people imprisoned for their alleged roles in the Capitol riots that left five people dead.

A music video featuring footage of Trump performing patriotic acts during his presidency and shots of the riots, including police firing tear gas, will debut later Friday morning on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast.

These big dreams of his were obviously poured into his ear by conservative think tanks who are workshopping ways to reverse demographic trends while preparing for the next civil war (“we will need our *own* cities and plentiful child labor when we secede!”)

We are an hour into Trump's CPAC speech and it has been all grievances about his legal problems, potshots at Biden, and alternative history about how awesome his term was. There has barely been a hint of an actual 2024 campaign agenda.

it's worthwhile to understand his strategy in order to plan how to beat it

I feel like have studied history a decent amount. I am not aware of anyone who was so driven by ego to become a fascist dictator, while being comically lazy at the same time.

Seriously, yr Caesar/Napoleon/Hitler/Stalin/Mussolini type doodz were fanatical egomaniacs, sure, but they put in the WORK, yo. They brought attention to detail. They looked at maps and org charts and such.
