Meanwhile Elmo is chumming it up with avowed racist Scott Adams and resposting creepy old transphobic memes.

I personally knew one (1) engineer who thought the acquisition was good news. Anti mask, anti vax, pro just asking questions logic guy. He scoffed at people who worried about it, and told me I was making a mistake when I quit. He got fired in that first week. That was pretty good too.
― 𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 26 February 2023 21:22 (one year ago) link
He’d been there ten years. Awful person but very effective senior staff engineer. But because he was effective at that level he wrote about five lines of code per year. Whoops! Leopard MY face.

he tweeted a bit about the (lol) twitter files at the time, which apparently vindicated his negative views of moderation practices, but nothing specifically on musk.

I’d say “sad” but it really, really isn’t.
The worst take you could have from watching me go all-in on Twitter 2.0 is that my optimism or hard work was a mistake. Those who jeer & mock are necessarily on the sidelines and not in the arena. I’m deeply proud of the team for building through so much noise & chaos. 💙— Esther Crawford ✨ (@esthercrawford) February 27, 2023

I grew up in a cult. We had lots of rules (can’t cut hair, no makeup, no pants, no tv, no secular music, etc) and hierarchical leadership. We believed it was the “end times” so I lived in fear of doing anything wrong & being left behind. I exited on my own when I was 19. https://t.co/t6u7VlJE0T pic.twitter.com/0EzfqBICbA— Esther Crawford ✨ (@esthercrawford) April 16, 2022

I work for a reasonably large, publicly-held corporation and have coworkers who date back to the time, pre-buyouts and mergers, when it was a much smaller private company and worked in the same office. They have (or in most cases, had) a genuine enthusiasm for the products/services they developed, felt like they had a stake in their work, and genuinely believed in the brand as corny as that sounds
It's just utterly foreign to the 2023 job market and idk maybe that way of life still exists somewhere but to think that twitter dot com is one of those places is absolutely bonkers to me
― mh, Monday, 27 February 2023 17:04 (one year ago) link
xxp twitter's not public anymore! I could see if you have that trad "we're building things unburdened by the whims of stockholders" mentality Elon buying it out could be a positive. I mean, maybe it could be, if it wasn't Elon
