i'm not sure about musk's level of fame, name/face recognition among the average voter. but i think quite a few people would, upon watching that video, think that elon musk is the candidate. or, if they don't know his name, the guy stepping in and out of vehicles on stage and pointing at things and trying to be cool. the video looks like musk is the candidate and they hired some horrible 3rd rate actor to narrate the video

Does the term "woke mind virus" really resonate with people outside the cult? It's like a Democrat running and talking about "the former guy" or something.

Elon and DeSantis both seem like guys who are somewhat popular until people actually have to hear them speak, they're so much better off letting the media launder their reputation

No. And it's worse than "the former guy" etc. - this is the Republican equivalent of a Democratic candidate using "problematic" and "intersectionality" every other sentence.

Musk was at one point the richest person in the world and was Time magazine person of the year a couple of years ago, so I do think a lot of people are aware of him, even if they don't know the extent of his whole deal.

tho we said that about Trump too
okay, i got through it. i will say that i am amazed that, by the end, i found myself rooting for and eagerly anticipating the FIFTH time they reused the same clips of an airboat speeding through florida swamps followed by elon musk using a flamethrower. however, they only used the clips four times, over the course of 3 and a half minutes, so i was disappointed

Twitter appears to be removing the video view count metric, but Android users still see it in their version of the app the Ron DeSantis campaign is fudging their view count numbers by more than double the amount https://t.co/aM1SNMVTHt pic.twitter.com/x3nHcoVdxq— Matt Binder (@MattBinder) May 25, 2023

you might be wondering why i included that image of ron desantis commandeering an airboat. it's in there because he was thinking only of elon musk as he did it

his speech, which sounds like a 32kbps voice memo, doesn't even mention Elon, and yet Elon is in the video more than Ron is. the whole thing is so unfathomably bizarre, too weird to even be an AI thing, it's practically an On Cinema bit

hate to hand it to Morning Joe but this was pretty funny in response to the claim that Ron's announcement was "so big it broke the internet"

hello, i was wondering if somebody more online than me could tell me if this thread is a joke or not
If you are a fan of Taylor who falls into a marginalized group more intimately impacted by this I would be happy and honored to hear from you. Thanks for listening & for letting me be human. Sequined romper pictures coming soon! pic.twitter.com/kXIo5DuXMA— keyvan (@still_oppressed) May 25, 2023
― budo jeru, Thursday, 25 May 2023 19:20 (eleven months ago) link
sorry i posted the last tweet only but am referring to the whole thread
It's parody; all the text comes from a much longer tweet thread posted by an ultra-earnest white lady (who runs some kind of culty church?) crying about how it's Bad that Taylor Swift is dating (or so people seem to believe) the singer from The 1975, who is Very Bad because he made racist jokes on a podcast, or something. But she's still gonna go to the Taylor Swift concert, even though she is Conflicted.

its a goof on this thread
Before I leave for NYC, here is my thread on seeing Taylor this weekend while she is dating a racist, Islamophobic, anti-semitic overall problematic white man. Fascinating. Apparently somebody at Twitter still cares at least marginally about not abusing trans folks? I bet whoever it is will be gone by the end of the day and Matt Walsh's hateful film will be given full exposure.
Twitter canceled a deal with @realdailywire to premiere What is a Woman? for free on the platform because of two instances of “misgendering.” I’m not kidding. Here's what happened:🧵1/16— Jeremy Boreing (@JeremyDBoreing) June 1, 2023

Probably Musk got cold feet for whatever reason at the last minute (or found out Walsh said something mean about him). The fact that Twitter even made the offer, I stand by my assertion that he wants to make Twitter an explicitly pro-right wing space.

11/16 Of course, saying “you have the right to speak, but we'll make sure no one hears you” is a bit like saying “you have the right to cast a vote, but we'll make sure it isn't counted.” That's not a right at all!— Jeremy Boreing (@JeremyDBoreing) June 1, 2023
