Little Caesared - Chokes on Crazy Bread

an icon of a worried-looking, long-haired, bespectacled man (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 3 October 2023 20:52 (seven months ago) link

"Did laugh at him saying he has a 'buyer beware' statement on all his business docs saying the figures above are all BS you want the real ones hey do your own research' outside the courtroom."

he actually said this was a brilliant and solid "worthless clause" that insulates him from legality, that's the actual term he used .... lol

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Tuesday, 3 October 2023 21:08 (seven months ago) link

Guess he decided to behave himself for now:

As for Mr. Trump, he sat quietly during the afternoon, occasionally making comments to his lawyers as he watched one aggressively question the accountant, Donald Bender.

After court concluded, he did not respond to questions about the judge’s order but said he would return to the trial Wednesday.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 3 October 2023 23:31 (seven months ago) link

Maybe he'll learn something. Wouldn't it be funny if he went to jail and got a law degree? After he converted to Islam?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 3 October 2023 23:37 (seven months ago) link

What if Trump started publishing a ‘zine in prison and it was shockingly great.

Yeah, but tell him he can't, and he will.
you just know he's got some massive scotoma in his vision from looking at that eclipse trying to be a tough guy

assert (matttkkkk), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 00:43 (six months ago) link

I don't know dick about the law BUT! I have seen a number of police procedural shows, and the lawyer who gets a contempt of court charge typically spends a night in jail. I can totally see Trump scaring up a CoC on purpose here and there, seeing that night in the slam as priceless pr for his sad cause.

Or, more likely, Nicky-in-Casino'ed

I feel more like a situation where the old man dies naturally, but some guys in bad track suits will show up to Eric’s and Junior’s.

I predict a Jeremy Bentham type future for his remains

StanM, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 10:27 (six months ago) link

LOL, this thread is like 25% trump death fantasies but people get their feathers ruffled when people make fun of his weight. Just don't say he'll die of obesity I guess.

BrianB, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 12:26 (six months ago) link

People get their "feathers ruffled" because there might be people here who have had to deal all their lives with with bullying and self-image issues as a result of their weight and don't in the year 2023 need to be made to feel those issues yet again just to score cheap laughs on our dickhead ex-president.

Death fantasies are less offensive imo because no one here has suffered all their lives from dying, other than the way we all do every day.

Thank you, and I can't fucking believe this has to be repeated.

Lumpy pillows, kiss my ass. Put that in your book (stevie), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 12:43 (six months ago) link

Brian the death wishes are expressing extreme dislike of his personality and actions. Mocking his weight implies that being overweight is grounds for mockery. Does that not seem like a very different thing to you?

assert (matttkkkk), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 13:17 (six months ago) link

sb and move on imo, this is neither a serious nor good faith argument

the new drip king (DJP), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 13:44 (six months ago) link

SB away I guess, but I do seriously think it's an odd form of group think morality that relishes death fantasies but shuns weight jokes. I don't have a problem with either, I just was bummed about Josh getting scolded for his footprints in the sand joke, which I thought was funny.

BrianB, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 14:27 (six months ago) link

One is punching down, and the other is killing up. Seems pretty self-explanatory

peanut filibuster parfait (Eric H.), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 14:46 (six months ago) link

Can't we all just agree that Trump dying would be his first ever service to humanity?

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:03 (six months ago) link

no it’s an odd group think morality

brimstead, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:07 (six months ago) link

I dunno, body shaming seems like the kind of behavior we rightfully find objectionable in people like Trump. Admittedly, there is much more objectionable behavior, but still.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:16 (six months ago) link

I think it's legit to make fun of Donald Trump for being fat because in addition to being fat, he is extremely vain, and he has a cult of sycophants who generate fan-art of him not being fat, in fact being super-muscular and manly. So a joke about Donald Trump being fat is not a joke about fat people being per se bad; it's a joke about Donald Trump's vanity and the insane flattery of his cult.

But ILX has this really weird, overcompensating hangup that fat jokes are, like, the worst, most evil thing someone could ever post. It's just one of the rules of the road around here, and people should know that by now.

read-only (unperson), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:32 (six months ago) link

Wishing Trump dead, even if it had any power, is only proverbially hurting Trump.

Making fat jokes re: Trump is like throwing a grenade onto a crowded sidewalk he's standing on next to 100 innocent people, then asking what's the big idea, the grenade was only intended for him

real warm grandpa (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:33 (six months ago) link

It may also be telegraphing to some friends "if I liked you less, I could be making this joke about you"

Is Trump usually surrounded by innocent people though?

real warm grandpa (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:38 (six months ago) link

supposedly the only thing he hates hearing about himself is that he's not nearly as wealthy as he claims

which is funny because it's true, he's made terrible choices with money every step of the way and all the numbers are imaginary

oh, you could sell your little golf course for a billion dollars to a rich saudi guy? do it, man

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:41 (six months ago) link

look I agree the fat jokes are probably in bad taste but this dude did list himself at 215, I mean come on if you could make an exception for anyone

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:52 (six months ago) link

The Saudis gave a billion dollars to his worthless bad-at-business son-in-law when the Trumps were out of office, the guy probably could get MBS to pay him hundreds of millions for swampland.

deep wubs and tribral rhythms (Boring, Maryland), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:58 (six months ago) link

they’re not really “jokes” though, they’re just like annoying witticisms or something

brimstead, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:58 (six months ago) link

they’re like bill Maher “jokes”

brimstead, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 16:59 (six months ago) link

Ben Shapiro "jokes"

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 17:03 (six months ago) link

Trump being large isn't funny, but Trump claiming to be 215 lbs is pretty funny

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 18:58 (six months ago) link

Trump's posture is his funniest physical characteristic. Constantly leaning into the headwinds of life

papal hotwife (milo z), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 18:58 (six months ago) link

Plus the hair, the tan, the hands, the ties. You could write a dissertation on the way he presents himself to the world and weight wouldn't even be a footnote.

henry s, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 19:08 (six months ago) link

right but it's all made a lot funnier by the fact that he's a giant lunk

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 19:25 (six months ago) link

Dude has attacked many people by how they look etc, that kinda makes him fair game.

Bullies really only understand a punch in the nose.

earlnash, Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:26 (six months ago) link

Trump was not a bad looking guy in his younger days, and he would be a perfectly adequate looking old dude if he hadn't devoted so much energy to becoming a burnt sienna grotesquerie with unkempt candy floss hair and a suppurating asshole for a mouth. If you wanna criticize his physicality, it's super easy to train all of your focus on the shit he actively does to make himself monstrous as part of his personal brand without ever even touching on stuff like his weight.

Prop Dramedy (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 20:29 (six months ago) link
