I saw a clip of Wayne Newton at the Super Bowl, and was surprised and delighted to see him (1) alive and (2) having a nice chat with Guy Fieri.

Just found out John Cairney died last September, aged 93.

Stanley is also my personal Mandela Effect, mainly because (as he admits in his hugely entertaining biography) he wasn't going to come out until after his death, and his biography weirdly ends with his 'death' - people gather for his last moments and he fades away. But then an epilogue that says he didn't actually die after all is is frail but fine.

So weird that he outlived Victor Lewis-Smith, who did so much to promote Stanley's life, achievements and place in British comedy.

Came here to note Ann Vernon, she was in a movie I watched last night (Shakedown, 1950.) James Redd mentioned her when she was 97. She just turned 100 in January.

I was surprised when I found out that Robert Johnson's stepsister, Annye Anderson, is still alive (she put out a book about him in 2020). I would have guessed that everyone who knew him was long gone by now.
