He put my body in weird positions and then jumped on me until my back popped

Haha. This is actually the part that sounds appealing to me.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:32 (seventeen years ago) link

I know! I wasn't scared about that part. I was like DO IT!

The doc didn't cuddle with me, but did say he'd like to take video of my hips/legs/knees in action to send to another doc friend of his. Apparently, I am an exotic freak from the waste down. Um, no thanks.

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:33 (seventeen years ago) link

hahaha re: peening in the coffee. It could totally be done.

I went to a chiro once and I think it was $25 a pop twice a week for a month and then once a week for a while after. Something like that. But I didn't care because I was in terrible, terrible pain and he made me feel better for realz, yo.

My guy:
1. X-rayed my hurt parts.
2. Hooked me up to some electric shock machine for about ten mintues each visit.
3. Pulled on my head and legs, which was surprisingly helpful.
4. Used a little popper thing* to try and get that one fucked up piece of my spine back where it belonged.
5. Made "adjustments" (aka cracked by back) at this one weird spot that I can never get on my own.
6. Tried unsuccessfully to get me to go on MASTER CLEANSER.**

** This was at the height of my gym-going, about six times a week for an hour each time and seriously, was I not supposed to eat for ten days? He was kind of a whack job, but he fixed my back so I will always love him.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:34 (seventeen years ago) link

(xxxxxxpost) Oh no! Am I going to have to bring some kind of jacket with me, to guard against the Chicago cold?

I bet Nashville will be lovely and warm.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:35 (seventeen years ago) link

xp

chiros are really weird, but good ones really do seem to make a difference. all that joint popping and strategic cracking and prodding and such can be magic. it's finding a good chiro that's a challenge, because most of them are crap

Apparently, I am an exotic freak from the waste down.

aren't we all. i had to relearn how to shift my weight when i walked so i wouldn't fuck up my hips and knees anymore, but it worked.

Juulia (julesbdules), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Tim! It's going to be a high of 75 today, which is much cooler than what it has been.

Crap. It looks like it's gonna be back in the mid eighties this weekend, so it'll be warm, most likely.

molly d (mollyd), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:39 (seventeen years ago) link

it seems like a lot of chiros are alternomed whack jobs. mine used to go on rants about traditional doctors and how all they did was poison the body with drugs.

he also made me feel his butt once. in the context of "feel how the glutes are engaged when i'm walking, and the nature of the movement, etc", but i was all NOT REALLY WANTING TO FEEL HIS BUTT so i missed the point. he still fixed my knees and hips.

Juulia (julesbdules), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Tim - No need for a jacket if you wear tights. 'tis always tights season for lads.

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:40 (seventeen years ago) link

especially if they're purple.

Juulia (julesbdules), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:40 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah tim, a jacket may be a good idea. i don't know when you'll be there but daytime temps in the 50s for the first time in 4 months by next week. last night i dug out my old brown jacket that i haven't worn since last october and found a lighter and 3 dollars in the jacket pockets. and my shop fronts and dot dash pins are on the jacket. i like finding things in pockets.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Molly!

What this means is that I'm going to have to bring a jacket, just in case, but I'll end up hauling the darned thing around with me for 1x sweltering week.

That popper thing a few posts back is the scariest thing I've seen this week, with the exception of Peter Sarstedt's moustache.

When I do wear tights, it's generally over my head for unidentification purposes. Oh, and I'll see if I can place something in one of my pockets for you to find, otto.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:43 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, and I'll see if I can place something in one of my pockets for you to find, otto.

is that a roll of dimes in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Tim, I forgot to mention, we have a washer/dryer in the apartment, so feel free to wash your tights, or whathaveyou, chez nous.

molly d (mollyd), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:50 (seventeen years ago) link

i like finding things in pockets.

I totally found $10 when I dragged my jacket out of the closet over the weekend.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:51 (seventeen years ago) link

i wish i'd found some cigarettes because i finally finished the last of my free kools this morning. i've got a big mentholated clam sitting on that shelf behind my nasal passages above my uvula. can't wait to hock that thing clear.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:53 (seventeen years ago) link

So are we just doing this ThIRSTY THURSDAY at Old Timers? Who is in?

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Umm, not to be weird or anything, but who are you, Molly D., and why is Tim staying with you? I've already sussed out that you live in Nashville.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Uh oh. I think my love just started. No way to control it, it's totally automatic.

always crashing in other people's cars (kenan), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:59 (seventeen years ago) link

U ask me if I love U, it's automatic
'Cuz every time U leave me, I die, that's automatic 2
U ask me 2 forgive U, when U know, I'm just an addict
So stop the music baby, U know, You're all I wanna do

always crashing in other people's cars (kenan), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:00 (seventeen years ago) link

I have this weird suspicion that GISing "automatic love" might bring up gun pr0n.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I'll rub your back forever, it's automatic
I'll look 4 a needle in a haystack, that's automatic 2
I'll go down on U all night long, it's automatic,
And even when I'm right, I'll be wrong,
That's automatic 2

(Prince in wanting to go down on U shockah!)

always crashing in other people's cars (kenan), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Also:

I'll stick to double hyphens, even though they're a typographical embarrassment.

I don't mind the double hyphen, as long as there's a space on either side -- you know, like that. I get really bothered when I see one of those spaces missing-- like that, or --good God --like that. (This happens all the time on Pitchfork.) Closed up--for instance, like this--is a little better consistency-wise, but I don't think it's very attractive.

Grilled cheese and hot cocoa sounds amazing right now.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:03 (seventeen years ago) link

no machine gun porn in a GIS

Juulia (julesbdules), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:04 (seventeen years ago) link

Digd0wn used to the Pointer Sisters' "Automatic".

I want a grilled cheese for lunch now.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:04 (seventeen years ago) link

jaymc, you are correct: I live in Nashville. Tim is friends with el boyfriendo. Hence the visit.

molly d (mollyd), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:05 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm down with Thirsty Thursday, ya'll.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:05 (seventeen years ago) link

oh, there was that too. (xp etc)

Juulia (julesbdules), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Sometimes I used double hyph without spaces ONLY when I want to indicate that speech has actually been broken off...not, like, a thoughtful pause between phrases. Just for your informa-- I mean, the spreadsheet.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I never got anything out of that electric machine they slapped on my back. It was like 10 minutes of filler before the real stuff began. The chiro was always "everybody can't get enough of this!" and I was like, "whatever, get cracking with the cracking".

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh yeah, that one works, L. Good job.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:07 (seventeen years ago) link

i've never used spaces with double hyphens, but i see how they could look a bit more attractive.

Juulia (julesbdules), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:08 (seventeen years ago) link

are you guys having tt at old timers again?

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Thank you, JMZ.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:08 (seventeen years ago) link

I love that Popkins packs so light that putting a fall jacket into his luggage is "hauling it around". His jacket probably weighs less than my three extra pairs of shoes I pack JUST IN CASE.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:11 (seventeen years ago) link

I will happily go to Old Timers again tomorrow.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:12 (seventeen years ago) link

i'm going to see if the lady friend who got me drunk last thursday will get me drunk again this thursday.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Popkins = Tim H0pk1ns? Yes? Is this all somehow Sinister-related?

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:15 (seventeen years ago) link

No Old Timers for me tomorrow, alas. I've got band practice.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:15 (seventeen years ago) link

My bandmates and I have been having TTs at Le Tigre, in Madison. It's a totally ridiculous bar where the bartenders wear ties, there is a piano w/built-in seating, and lots of crazy/chincy tiger decorations everywhere.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:17 (seventeen years ago) link

John, yes. Molly is ex-sinister, too.

Jordan: chintzy. :D After chintz, the fabric Laura Ashley made famous-- I mean, nauseating.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:20 (seventeen years ago) link

So, Dan is the only one in for Old Timers tomorrow?

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I'll be sitting there all alone watching the businessmen gawking at boobs.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, speaking of pianos!

Kr won a $50 gift certificate to the Redhead Piano Bar downtown. I'm pretty stoked -- has anyone been there? (The only person who I can imagine having gone would be Eazy.) I want to get dressed up and drink cocktails.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:21 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm up for whatever.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:22 (seventeen years ago) link

Gangbang?

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:23 (seventeen years ago) link

i want to get undressed and drink cocktails but that's kind of sad when you're by yourself.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:23 (seventeen years ago) link

I had several homemade gin and tonics in my boxers last night.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:24 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm in for Old Timer's. And Kevin, I will buy you an entire pitcher of PBR.

xp - I have been to the Redhead Piano Bar. It's loud, but kind of fun.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 15:24 (seventeen years ago) link

I've been there, John! It's a lot of fun. You'll love it.
