I have come to accept that I do not have meaningful amounts of shelf space left, nor do I have wall space to put shelves against, and I'm just a person who is going to have piles

My actual first time ever hearing NIN:

I was staying at my Aunt’s house while on a family road trip, and looking through my cousin’s CDs. My cousin is a few years older than me. I was extremely sheltered musically at that point. He had lots of CDs from bands that I hadn’t heard yet: Korn, Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Radiohead. I knew Radiohead slightly from the "High and Dry" video, and didn't want to risk straying from what I already knew. So I found that song title on the back of The Bends, put on the CD that was in the case, skipped ahead to track 3, and made it to "Your God is dead, and no one cares" before turning it off in horror.
