can we just seize a few assets, as a treat?

I will personally paypal Ned $5 if there are any actual IRL consequences in the next 7 days.

Hell I have no idea either way. I'm just here for the documentation.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 April 2024 20:09 (four weeks ago) link

it's definitely a delay tactic, but it does not seem very successful

Don't worry, Jared should arrive from Dubai any minute with a trunk full of cash.

She has given them 10 days to fix things, per her objection posted above by Ned. (As i understand it?)

Kim Kimberly, Thursday, 4 April 2024 20:13 (four weeks ago) link

What? Trump posted something fraudulent?

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Thursday, 4 April 2024 20:14 (four weeks ago) link

xpost Apparently that's standard enough. (Though I am amused that this almost runs the clock now to his Manhattan criminal case, so we're Groundhog Daying this whole thing.)

Roffle, THIS'll be funny.

A week after the criminal case starts so I'm sure Trump'll be in a happy mood.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 April 2024 20:25 (four weeks ago) link

OK, I extend my generous bet to include any IRL consequences within the month of April

I painted my teeth (sleeve), Thursday, 4 April 2024 20:34 (four weeks ago) link

actually it's not a bet b/c u have zero obligation, but you get the idea

I painted my teeth (sleeve), Thursday, 4 April 2024 20:35 (four weeks ago) link

Time will tell!

Trump apparently misunderstood what "word is bond" means

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Thursday, 4 April 2024 20:43 (four weeks ago) link

Also per the comment above re what Barbara Jones might have access to as the Trump Org monitor, James just filed this with Engoron; per a Bluesky summary:

NY AG Letitia James wants the independent monitor to investigate whether Trump et al. “withheld relevant and responsive” information from prosecutors during the civil-fraud case

Maybe nothing will turn up. Buuuuut.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 April 2024 20:47 (four weeks ago) link

A lot of it has to do with Weisselberg and his own recent guilty plea, which is fun. But also this, which strikes me as technical though helpful in terms of 'hey if we need any info we'd like to be able to get it, very clearly':

On behalf of the Office of the Attorney General (“OAG”), we write regarding the Monitorship Order entered March 21, 2024 (NYSCEF No. 1706). Specifically, we write to ask for two modifications to the Monitorship Order: first, we ask that the Monitorship Order be amended to explicitly authorize the Monitor to share information, ex parte, with any party; and second, we ask that the Monitor be directed to investigate certain issues surrounding the recent perjury plea by defendant Allen Weisselberg. On the first issue, explicit authorization to share information on an ex parte basis, this would merely conform the post-trial Monitorship Order to the pre-trial Supplemental Monitorship Order entered on November 17, 2023 (NYSCEF No. 194). That earlier order provided that “The Monitor is authorized to engage in ex parte communications with the Court and any party.” Id. at 2. While the Monitorship Order does not preclude such communications, we believe that out of an abundance of caution, the provision should be added.

this is starting to make me a little dizzy...

It would seem weird to hire a third party observer to keep an eye on Trump's secret tomfoolery and allow her to further keep those secrets.

Yr not wrong but our Big Boy's whole thing is doing stuff in dark alleys if the 3rd Party Observer literally didn't see it because the money is coming in envelopes by underground courier systems then... moar crimes i guess!

There it is:

A stellar financial mind:

Don Hankey, the billionaire businessman whose company Knight Specialty Insurance provided the $175 million bond that Donald Trump posted in his New York civil fraud case, told Reuters that the fee his firm charged the former U.S. President was low. Hankey, who backed Trump as a presidential candidate in 2016 and has said he supports his re-election, has maintained that providing the bond was a business decision. He declined to disclose the fee, but said it was low because Knight did not think there was much risk involved...."We thought it would be an easy procedure that wouldn't involve other legal problems and it's not turning out that way. We probably didn't charge enough," Hankey said in an interview....Hankey, who runs a group of businesses including a provider of subprime automotive loans that has been reprimanded by regulators for predatory behaviour involving customers, said Trump offered collateral for the $175 million in cash. He said the cash is held at a brokerage firm and pledged to Knight, and that Knight can access it if needed. "I don't know if it came from Donald Trump or from Donald Trump and supporters," Hankey said of the cash Trump provided for collateral.

“I mean, whatever, I was just doing a favor, I’m a guy who does favors. You never know when you’ll need a favor, right? Wait, is this guy in serious trouble or something”

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/04/02/investing/trump-bond-firm

“Ultimately, he put up all cash,” Hankey said, adding that he does not know where the $175 million in cash that Trump posted came from.

Hankey says the collateral was the full bond amount in cash... so why does Trump even need the middleman?
