You could always dress up as an eastern european olympic gymnastics coach and try to blag your way into parties. Not that I am about to have any experience with that.

I wonder if I can stay awake long enough for the Subgenius shows on WREK.

I'm in the library working on a 20 page article for Monday (I'm only on page 10). Do I win?

I am attempting to do a backlog of library assisgnments. When not taking breaks for tea and sneaking Halloweed candy, I am rendered despondent by the tedium of it all.

Going to a costume party, but one full of bench scientists. I expect several sexy kittycat costumes, plus a few joke ones punning on molecules I've never heard of.

A new age label hired me to remix some of their back catolog into ambient/chillout, so that's what I'm doing right now. Meeting up with my girlfriend for a drink in a few hours.

Went for a ride and bought a pack of smokes. Wowza! Contemplating the last bud tucked neatly inside of a paper towel in the drawer next to me here. Can't decide.

I WENT to a STUPID halloween party - and i dressed up as a fat girl in a corset

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Sunday, 30 October 2005 06:05 (eighteen years ago) link

DUD - going to a small party where almost everyone gets so drunk that they speak a drunk-girl language consisting mostly of "whooooo" and "oooohh" and "ewwwweeeeeee" and stuff like that, and it makes no sense to you and you leave

Mickey (modestmickey), Sunday, 30 October 2005 06:41 (eighteen years ago) link

and somebody else calls you wanting to hang out and you can't remember who he is and you feel bad about it

CLASSIC - returning to your apartment and eating a ~50 cent frozen burrito. it feels like an eternity I had to wait for this thing to cool off. classic!

i went to this awesome house party in South LA and danced til 2:30am! the cops were parked outside with spotlights! a guy dressed as superman started to run around the house with a chainsaw and the cops came in and he threatened them with the chainsaw! they went to arrest him but he said, "see this motherfuckers?? NO CHAIN! can't take me in now!" The cops looked at one another and said, "He's right!" and went back outside. There were 70 yr olds and 10 yr olds at this thing. kick ass. And I'm not even hungover!

i threw a warehouse party yesterday in a space that had a half pipe built into it. a bunch of 12 year olds came out [who were sponsored by tony hawk, wtf?] and totally slayed. a couple of parents brought along their kids and skated together. the bands? indie pop, of course. i djed along with my friend and had a total blast. best show ive done in ages.

that sounds so good. Bam Magera is from philly, no? I've seen a video of him skating on a half pipe on a downtown rooftop. TH likes to get them young. i like how he's always looking for something new. i wonder how popular skating would be right now without him.

Ronan, I have allergic rhinitis. I got steroids to spray up my nose, which worked for about 10 minutes before I couldn't breathe properly again. Hoovering my mattress and going nowhere near my sister's cat had more of an effect.

BTW, Gear, not that I regret seeing Bauhaus at all (as I don't) but I would have loved to have been at that party. Amazing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 30 October 2005 19:52 (eighteen years ago) link

my favorite part of the party was encouraging a 12yr old with a plastic mohawk, mask, and cape to go dance with some girl he'd been eyeing. he got digits, i think!

gear (gear), Sunday, 30 October 2005 19:59 (eighteen years ago) link

I went to the memorial of an old North Beach regular at G&C's. I wasn't grim at all, thankfully, but poignant and funny.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:15 (eighteen years ago) link

i went to tribeca grand but blackstrobe were nowhere to be seen and the downstairs was closed up! i danced for awhile anyway, ended up going to some zillionaire's apartment on 59th street where there were like five people sitting around listening to, i dunno, cafe del mar at very low volume, doing coke and talking about their business. gah what a fucking disappointment. i should have come to your warriors party like i'd planned to all along, phil :(

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:19 (eighteen years ago) link

After yesterday's ZombieWalk, went to halloween party at friend of roommate's house. Two stinky bands played. Talked to plenty of random folks. Didn't exactly get digits, but got an email addr from a tall chick who'd been talking about going to see Dead Moon that night. And all the while, I was covered in blood, too!

Somebody got off their closing shift at Starbucks, and brought plenty of soon-to-be-expired food, so my other roommate & i loaded up as much of it as we could hold at the end of the night. Free lunch!

kingfish orange creamsicle (kingfish 2.0), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:27 (eighteen years ago) link

dude, i could have told you that blackstrobe was cancelled. you should have known - the guys who do the saturday party (jdh & davep) were dj'ing at my thing!

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:30 (eighteen years ago) link

anyways if blackstrobe were playing that nite, i would be like ok warriors cancelled, we're all going to the tribeca.

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:36 (eighteen years ago) link

we even had our gang outfits. we were a hungarian gymnastics squad.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:39 (eighteen years ago) link

I had a totally non-boring Saturday night, for once, at a party. It was more a housewarming than a specifically Halloween party, though a couple of people did make the effort. A fun time all around, and great company.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:47 (eighteen years ago) link

i worked til 11pm then went home, having sadly cancelled all non-boring housewarming/fancy-dress party plans in favour of mopping my gf's fevered brow (read: watching E4 til 2am became 1am).

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:52 (eighteen years ago) link

Mine wasn't boring, exactly, but it was...odd. Went to a house party with a new girl friend, who I like but don't know well so it's all in that cautious-circling stage, and she and her boyfriend are so quiet and gentle that around them I feel like a big jaded oaf who pulls wings off ladybugs. There were only about 8 people there and they were all BIZARRE, and not even in interesting ways -- all friendly but I'm telling you it was THE high-water mark of social dysfunction and it was SUFFOCATING.

Oy. I tried to behave like a calm, thoughtful person and not cuss too much but overall it was like turning up & finding everyone speaking a language I didn't know, nothing that was said or done seemed to have the import I expected. Next time can we please have less of the saccharine punch, ditto the conversation, and more of the gimlets & chain-smoking & making out?
