I am so not down with abolishing rent control!

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 28 March 2008 18:21 (sixteen years ago) link

When people argue that the market is the best way to regulate housing rental prices, I like to remind them that their primary home is as susceptible to fire as their rental properties.

Looks like I've found a place! Off Valencia! With a pupuseria and a sushi place and an homemade ice cream joint across the street! And around the corner from Laughing Lotus!

So I'll be out there in the Aug. 19-26 range. Not sure how many days I'll be around, but that's the general vicinity.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Started in 1912 as a way to lift the city's spirits after the disastrous 1906 San Francisco earthquake, Bay to Breakers is the longest consecutively running footrace in the world (other races' courses and lengths have changed over time).

"For everyone's safety and enjoyment NO ALCOHOL or NUDITY is allowed."

chaki, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:13 (sixteen years ago) link

No running, either. And no watching, breathing, or blinking.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 21:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I remember driving down Fell after BtB and off the Panhandle there was a girl with her number still on laying down on the sidewalk, with one hand clutching the base of a streetlamp as if to insure that she didn't fall off the face of the earth. On the stoop all of ten feet away, a group of people who I presumed to be her friends were swaying about around their empty keg. The whole street looked like an alcoholocaust.

Michael White, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 21:39 (sixteen years ago) link

L'OMG alcoholocaust!

libcrypt, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 21:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Having a lolocaust here.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 21:52 (sixteen years ago) link

chaki, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 21:54 (sixteen years ago) link

Alcohol+ 'x' comes from Wilde doesn't it? Didin't he refer to his brother going on 'alcoholidays'?

Michael White, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 22:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Fuck biking 100 miles for work.

libcrypt, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 05:18 (sixteen years ago) link

I bike 1 mile to work everyday. I didn't have to work today so instead I biked through the park to the ocean then over the bridge etc. it felt like 100 miles.

jaxon, Thursday, 3 July 2008 21:15 (fifteen years ago) link

Land's End hike is pretty mellow - not very strenuous and plenty scenic

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 3 July 2008 21:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Went to Nick's Crispy Tacos last night. Pretty good, though it would've been better if I was drunk. Off to the ballgame now.

Bryan, Sunday, 6 July 2008 19:16 (fifteen years ago) link

I'll be in the Bay Area from the evening of the 17th to the morning of the 21st, if anyone wants to meet up. I haven't been to Pac Bell yet, so a Marlins-Giants game on Tues or Wed is in store hopefully. Haven't thought about hotel yet...are there recommendations for something not too insanely priced? Either side of the bay is okay -- nearness to BART is a plus for East Bay, obv.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 13 July 2008 19:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Steve Shasta, Thursday, 17 July 2008 20:18 (fifteen years ago) link

I'd be surprised if Tracy can make it (twins are a handful) but maybe she can get the day off or something

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 17 July 2008 20:26 (fifteen years ago) link

I's here and normally I would try to go, but I seriously cannot take any more time off work. Jen might be up for it though.

Alex in SF, Thursday, 17 July 2008 21:52 (fifteen years ago) link

Jen is up for it (and since she's currently studenting she gets the cheap rate woo hoo) and just registered. Are you going, Steve?

Alex in SF, Friday, 18 July 2008 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

I predict Steve gets a bunch of people to buy tickets but then mysteriously does not show up himself

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 18 July 2008 15:52 (fifteen years ago) link

Hahaha it's TU LANG all over again.

Alex in SF, Friday, 18 July 2008 15:54 (fifteen years ago) link
