I found Casey Wilson to be grating and unpleasant in every sketch she was in, but the producers are bunch of douchenozzles if this story is true.

i didn't realize someone named 'Nasim Pedrad' was a white chick

Blanket McCulkin (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 23:18 (fourteen years ago) link

always got the feeling Casey Wilson was not really being given a fair shot, for some reason...

Nhex, Thursday, 10 September 2009 01:27 (fourteen years ago) link

There are plenty of examples of people who were funny before or after SNL but not funny on SNL. Casey could just be another one. I liked her thing on Funny or Die (or whatever) about reading comments about herself on the web.

Apparently Aubrey Plaza auditioned for SNL and did an imitation of Sarah Silverman? Clearly I think differently than Lorne Michaels because I'm pretty sure I would have hired her if she brought this to an audition, but whatever.

lol man that's killer

some dude, Thursday, 10 September 2009 02:25 (fourteen years ago) link

i can understand if mean otm impressions of contemporary comics probably aren't what SNL is looking for, but then i think sudeikis's ricky gervais is one of the funniest things from the past couple seasons.

some dude, Thursday, 10 September 2009 02:27 (fourteen years ago) link

casey was the cutest cast member by far wtf

Also, Aubrey Plaza is my new favorite person. (gawd I hate Sarah Silverman SO MUCH!)

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 10 September 2009 02:38 (fourteen years ago) link

lmao @ jewgina

isn't that that Jim Breuer guy doing those killworthy JACKPOT pizza commercials? May all cast members meet the same fate.

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 10 September 2009 03:00 (fourteen years ago) link

hey, Darrell Hammond just left the show and is already doing some pretty embarrassing Oreos commercials with Trump

some dude, Thursday, 10 September 2009 03:03 (fourteen years ago) link

I thought Aubrey Plaza's bit there just sounded like a Sarah Silverman routine.

three weeks pass...

Keenan is WIN.

Madonna is so sad right now.

The ever dapper nicolars (Nicole), Sunday, 4 October 2009 04:12 (fourteen years ago) link

I still love Madonna. I don't care.

Also, Gaga just said "shit."

So that's "fuck" in week 1. "Shit" in week 2. What are they going for in week 3?

I thought Aubrey Plaza's bit there just sounded like a Sarah Silverman routine.

That's one of the reasons it's brilliant.

Cunga, Sunday, 4 October 2009 05:57 (fourteen years ago) link

Liked the bit at the end about the crime show where the actors are all Norwegian.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Sunday, 4 October 2009 08:38 (fourteen years ago) link

my favorite moment of the show was lady gaga struggling to sit down at the piano bench w/ her stupid nasa costume on.

iatee, Sunday, 4 October 2009 08:46 (fourteen years ago) link

Much better than last week. I might grow to like these new girls yet, although I'm still bummed about Casey.

Michael F Gill, Monday, 5 October 2009 02:57 (fourteen years ago) link

did morbius write the opening obama sketch?

What was this like? SNL's usual angle is that of a Giuliani Democrat.

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Monday, 5 October 2009 03:07 (fourteen years ago) link

Th joke was that the right wing is going crazy over how Obama's changing the country, when in fact he hasn't even done a single thing he said he was going to do. There was a checklist. I laughed.

Ah... here.

(That Obama impersonation wasn't even trying, though.)

tie me up, dress in drag, and read to me from the bible (kenan), Monday, 5 October 2009 03:18 (fourteen years ago) link

Found it... reasonably OTM sketch. And I didn't laugh once.

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Monday, 5 October 2009 03:19 (fourteen years ago) link

(I mean, if even SNL writers know that the joke is Obama's snake oil, you may wish to postpone that Republican Party autopsy)

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Monday, 5 October 2009 03:22 (fourteen years ago) link

Your new screen name.

xuxa pitts (donna rouge), Monday, 5 October 2009 03:31 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah Sandberg's thing was wtf and just bad. Sandberg in general was just bad.

Gotta admit, though, I liked the dog food commercial.

tie me up, dress in drag, and read to me from the bible (kenan), Monday, 5 October 2009 03:32 (fourteen years ago) link

fake commercials are so in their wheelhouse that it's almost hard to congratulate them

autogoon delight (J0rdan S.), Monday, 5 October 2009 03:32 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah that was the kind of thing that they could've done in '92 and would've been just as funny, no more no less

some dude, Monday, 5 October 2009 03:37 (fourteen years ago) link

xp Yeah, and it wasn't even a great one. But I've been torn recently between buying the cat food that I usually get and some cheap awfulness, and I was like, fuck it, it's a cat. She'll either eat it or starve to death, and I know which she's gonna pick.

tie me up, dress in drag, and read to me from the bible (kenan), Monday, 5 October 2009 03:38 (fourteen years ago) link

So you see, I RELATE.

I liked Ahmadinejad's wife, actually. He farts under the sheets and blames it on Israel. It's such an old joke, but lol.

Madonna is so sad right now.

This.

(I mean, if even SNL writers know that the joke is Obama's snake oil, you may wish to postpone that Republican Party autopsy)

Dollars to donuts it was written by Jim Downey, SNL's long-time political writer and devout right-winger (and Robert Downey, Jr.'s uncle). I don't think his writing a completely in-character sketch exactly sounds the Dems' death knell.

I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 5 October 2009 12:51 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, that sketch is so clearly written from a "right wing" perspective. Keep drinkin' that Kool Aid!

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Monday, 5 October 2009 13:06 (fourteen years ago) link

lol @ Lady Gaga and her keytar

a misunderstanding of Hip-Hop and contracts (HI DERE), Monday, 5 October 2009 14:05 (fourteen years ago) link

I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't tell - was that really Madonna? Someone upthread called her sad, I thought it was Wiig in costume? If not, without my glasses, Madonna is looking good..

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 5 October 2009 14:26 (fourteen years ago) link

i had assumed it was either of the two new women on the show but at the end, ryan reynolds thanked madonna

xuxa pitts (donna rouge), Monday, 5 October 2009 15:08 (fourteen years ago) link

think the hardest i laughed all episode was at hader's phil spector

Hader doesn't even have to say anything, the faces he makes as Spector or that weird alien sports guy are priceless.

That really was Madonna! The arms are a dead giveaway. She does look good, but there's something kind of pathetic about the Gaga fight -- at some point you should stop trying to be down with the kids.
