I disagree, a bad plain lager can be deeply gross.

I looked at beeradvocate.com to see what their best- and worst-rated beers were, and some of the results are surprising.

I had the sunset wheat once and remember thinking it was not terrible

sunset wheat is great. I haven't had it in ages though.

IIRC most of the Leiney shandy variants I tried just tasted like soft drinks, which was actually fine for what I wanted at the time

Oh also the names are screwed up because the tabs between beer names and styles got deleted when I posted the list. So it's Big Butt Doppelbock, in the style of a Doppelbock. That doesn't really change the horrible name calculus, though.

Voted for the berry weiss but now I think I should have picked a shandy. Shandy's are terrible.

fwiw those suffixes like "fruit/vegetable beer" are stylistic designators and don't appear on the packaging (because who's going to buy a vegetable beer?) "Adjunct lager" makes that one sound the worst to me - although original Leinie is a better than average lawnmower beer imo.
