Going as an Angel is really dull and unimaginative, okay?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

likewise a Black Friar or an Oval

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:54 (twenty-three years ago)

you could tie a piece of ham to you and continually rotate it as you move around so its always facing east

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:55 (twenty-three years ago)

afro wig = High Barnet

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:55 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:56 (twenty-three years ago)

At the last one, Emma's mate Chr*s Bounds wore all green, dyed his hair green and painted his face and went as Bounds Green. We found this very amusing indeed.

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:56 (twenty-three years ago)

bloody hell kate, i was just about to say that exact same thing

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:56 (twenty-three years ago)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:57 (twenty-three years ago)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Gucci dress, Prada shoes, shit hairdo = Victoria

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:59 (twenty-three years ago)

My friends want to go as Shepherds Bush and St. John's Wood. Heh.

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 12:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Do American subway stations count?

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:02 (twenty-three years ago)

This is reminding me of that terrible TV series, the name of which I have erased.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Neverwhere!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah yes. I never actually watched it but the tube posters were enough. Can anyone recall the wording of any of them? I seem to recall heavy 'DO YOU SEE?' overtones.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)

you could dress as Anne Robinson on the Weakest Link - "BANK!"

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Why the hate for Neverwhere? Not seen the TV programme, but I read the book, having been told by ILXors that it was awful, and I was actually quite charmed by it. So there.

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I've just remembered that it was cowritten by Lenny Henry!

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to sit with some tea crates at Boston Manor.

Or dress as Napoleon at Waterloo.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Or Abba.

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:18 (twenty-three years ago)

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I *really* want to go as Heathrow 4, but I can't quite figure out how to do it.

Heathrow 4 is my patented and special Mornington Crescent move that never fails to astonish and astound!

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate fun but like fancy dress parties. Riddle me this.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I've just realised that the title of this thread is WRONG, in order to appeal to Gareth, you should really come dressed as your favourite Bus Route.

Too bad Gillespie Road had its name changed, or that would obv. be my station of choice...

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Gareth's through with buses. He's all about monorails now.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Monorail! Monorail! MONORAIL!!! MONORAIL!!!!!!

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Aren't those things just awfully loud?

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:29 (twenty-three years ago)

You are thinking of elephants.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

trams SUCK. I don't want a Tram in West London.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Aw, but I'm quite fond of the South London trams. I could come as IKEA, then...

I have to bring the GOHYS to the tube station party! I just realised, he doesn't even have to dress up, as his surname is a tube station!

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:34 (twenty-three years ago)

No I'm pretty sure elephants operate on a regular dual rail system N

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Get a cowbell. Fill it with grass. HAR HAR, I'M BELL-SIZE PARK!!!

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Think I've posted this somewhere before, but my mate just found a rusting garden gate, broke the hinge off and gave it to his girlfriend. Him: Aldgate. Her: Moorgate.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Thursday, 27 March 2003 13:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Most ambitious costume = Elephant and Castle.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I've been to one of these. I went as White City. I wore a slinky black dress, black shoes and then spent bloody ages building a little city of white cardboard turrets and towers and stapling it to a hat.
There were several Olympias and Bond Streets. Greenwich came as a Jean Paul Gautier salior; Holburn had a t-shirt made laced with fag burns. Surrey Keys had a barbour, cashmere twin set, pearls, copy of Horse and Hound and a big bunch of keys. Canada Water - mountie with water pistols in holsters. Warren Street was a Playboy bunny. My friend S did go as Shepherd's Bush. She had a milkmaid outfit and a small shurb. The shrub died and left leaves all over the house leading to many predictable jokes about finding bits of S's bush.

My favourite was a bit obscure. There was a bloke dressed as Micheal douglas in Falling Down, because ....

London Bridge is falling down.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I also liked the couple dressed as Barbie and Ken = Barbican.

And the French maid with a veil = Maida Vale

Arsonist = Kilburn

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Hammersmith: you can't touch this, so what difference does it make?
