i already answered this after misreading one of the questions on the boring saturday night quiz thread. ahhh dyslexia and booze - never the smartest of combinations.

dyson (dyson), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

here's what my answer was: early feb after a friend's birthday party i passed out on a couch on someones front porch next to the madison. i was very, very drunk.

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

july 03, passed out under the eiffel tower, woke up at 6am and hailed cab back to hotel.

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't sleep outside often. I get a cold every time I fall asleep with the window open. And I'm terrified of bugs.

But I've probably fallen asleep in a deck chair by a swimming pool or summat.

January 2003, on tour, the friend's house where we were all staying was kind of packed, so I ended up sleeping out on the back porch. A few days later my bandmate ended up sleeping on Ned's balcony because we were all packed into his even smaller space.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

you be surprised what booze™ wil make you put up with, cindy. the couch i slept on was covered in snow¡

dyson (dyson), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

wait no, it was actually a park bench just slightly off to the side of the eiffel tower. i was on my way home for an early night when about fifty spaniards took the park over and plied me with booze and smoke. six hours later, when i woke up, they had completely vanished, as had my pants.

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

damn, never.

New Year's Eve 80/81. The new lock and dam in Amory had flooded a lot of land near the new waterway and hills became islands. My high school friends and I loaded up a fishing boat full of camping gear, junk food and fireworks, rowed around the new landscape and picked an island to camp out on. Worked out a lot of pyromanic tendencies and blew up Cheez Whiz cans with Steve's .357 Magnum. It got down to 20˚F that night and we froze our asses off, but still a fun time.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Sunday, 30 May 2004 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

The last time I slept in a tent outdoors was at a 2-day Phish concert summer 1996. The last time I slept literally under the stars was on the lawn of my college during orientation with lots of people with whom I was about to go camping in the Catskills. Too long since either occasion.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 31 May 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

August 2003 at around the 2800m level in the White Mountains of California. Watched the Perseid meteor shower most of the evening, slept for a couple hours and then drove back home.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 31 May 2004 00:13 (twenty-two years ago)

all the time on tour. we're a 'thanks for your offer but we've got sleeping bags' kinda band. This summer we're going one step further and bringing a tent.

plus i have some camping and lots of college drunkenness in my past

sleeping outside absolutely rules.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 31 May 2004 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I just typed this whole story out, and then realised that having to sleep on the street because of a computer game is like the most tragic thing in the whole of time ever.

It's /really/ cold though.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Monday, 31 May 2004 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

tell the story!!!

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 31 May 2004 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

last summer, covering some cheezy classic rock festival. I passed out from the drink. After nearly being kicked out for jumping the fence, even though I had an all access media pass.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 31 May 2004 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

July 2003, on the grounds of a friend's house the morning after the night of his 21st party. Between the hours of 8am and 9am. I was discovered by his parents just after waking up.

alex in mainhattan (alex63), Monday, 31 May 2004 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Last Thursday afternoon. It was warm and sunny, I was very tired, but the decorator was in at my flat. So, I went to a city-centre park, laid out on the grass and had a snooze.

caitlin (caitlin), Monday, 31 May 2004 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't remember, it was a long time ago - the late eighties iirc, but I went by train to an electronic music gig in london w/a friend, and we slept on benches in trafalgar square (they had these studs on them to stop you doinf this but somehow we managed. At s.th. like 5am we went to the station, and slept one benches there as well. I got woken up by a COP who wanted to check that we had tickets, which was a bit of a fright.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 31 May 2004 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Oliver Pyper (stickthrower), Monday, 31 May 2004 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

a few weeks ago, i had stayed up all night with a jet-lag of sorts and realized i needed an inspection sticker for my car. i got to the garage at 6am and the sign read "inspection hours 8am-5pm", so i fell asleep on the hood of my car and dreamed about vermont turkeys

kephm, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

out side the stazione centrale, rome, 2001. italy vs wales on the same night as our last night in italy, so all th hotels were full. tried to bed down outside the station doors with other people, but couldnt get to sleep. i was persuaded by my girlfriends coughing (she was very ill) that we should book in to the 5 star hotel (the only place open and with spaces) that i had spurned as being absurd not so mnay hours before. result? booked in 3 am, checked out 9 am (missed free breakfast!), cost? 120 quid.

hmmm not the most economical 6hrs....

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

last month, camping. I slept out by the fire.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

yesterday. on the grass in a park by my house in london. just relaxing in the afternoon sun, and feel asleep. i truly believe that sleeping in a park in late afternoon on a warm day is the best kind of sleep in the world.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno, but I don't especially like it because it reminds me of the year or two where I (and my brother and sister) HAD to sleep outside in the tennis court nearly every fucking weekend. Apparently Saturday was the preferred family fight night. Good times.
