Super Bowl ads could raise a few eyebrows
Fri Jan 28, 6:29 AM ET Business - USATODAY.com
By Michael McCarthy, USA TODAY

So much for the much-talked-about "G-rated" Super Bowl. Cialis, maker of an erectile dysfunction (ED) drug, and Unilever's new Degree for Men deodorant will be showing up with provocative ads for Fox's airing of Super Bowl XXXIX on Feb. 6.

After the Janet Jackson halftime breast-baring fiasco - and resulting "decency" uproar that enveloped some of the commercials - Fox and the National Football League have been expected to clamp down on anything that could upset 145 million U.S. viewers.

[...]

The ads last year caused many red-faced parents to have to answer kids who wanted to know what ED is, notes Pam Scholder Ellen, associate professor of marketing at Georgia State University.

The Super Bowl is "not the time or the place" for ED or condom advertising, she says.

[...]

Fox has three to four spots to sell out of 59 in-game spots and has been getting a record average of $2.4 million per 30-second commercial...

Ok, place yer bets now. How many ads do you think the AFA will auto-spam complaints to the FCC about? Two? Six? Thirteen?

If only there was some ad like in "Halloween 3: Season of the Witch" wherein idiotic football fans are zapped by a sliver of Stonehenge when the ad airs and their heads explode in a demonic clusterfuck of snakes and scorpions and hellfudge.

bring on the cialis ads, I'm dreading having to sit through commercials where cool dudes try to get a girl to dance with them because she's sitting on a case of Budweiser (which is funny because she's UGLY, get it??), or a Bud Light ad where some guy meets a really FAT girl, which is funny because she's FAT, or where some dude tells a girl he loves her just so she'll move closer to him and free up his PRECIOUS BEER.

The games are usually boring, but I've learned that in order to attain beer, men are forced to deal with WOMEN, some of them NOT ATTRACTIVE, and the latter category especially is worthy of contempt. It would be much easier of beer was free and bros could just sit around with each other, messin' around an' shit, nothin' gay about that, just dudes havin' fun an' drinkin' beer. hell yeah. Miller time.

Sometimes, I'll be walking down the street and overhear a few people in the midst of the ever-popular "What's your favorite commercial?" discussion. And I feel proud to be an American.

Haven't watched the thing in about 20 years, but that all could've changed if they aired the Mickey ad:

The twins in that particular ad are horrendously ugly, wtf is that about anyway.
