It's getting good reviews, I'm just dying for something decent on the tube. Two-hour premiere tonight.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:36 (twenty years ago)

look teeny no complaints about quality shows whilst 'she spies' still runs late-night on NBC

gear (gear), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

I have no idea what that is! is that a joke or is it something good?

sometimes I think I miss out on the promos b/c of tivo.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

She spies = Plot Summary: Three gorgeous female convicts are paroled from prison to work for an unnamed federal agency. While saving the world...

teeny don't worry you're missing anything by skipping the promos on your T1Vo, you'll know soon enough what's worth watching in the new fall season simply by word of mouth and ahem, of course right here on ILX.

prison break is good so far!

teeny (teeny), Monday, 29 August 2005 23:56 (twenty years ago)

She Spies is great...but Prison Break has such sublime eye candy. I'm restraining myself from humping the screen when Wentworth Miller is on it.

Candicissima (candicissima), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 00:04 (twenty years ago)

And the show is entertaining too. Though I gotta wonder how long they can really keep this going. Is it gonna go 24 style and have each episode be a day?

Candicissima (candicissima), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 00:05 (twenty years ago)

I, too, am interested in this television series.

Leeeeeeee (Leee), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 00:13 (twenty years ago)

I can't really remember the last time I watched more scripted series than reality series! Though I expect this year might be different for me.

Leeeeeeee (Leee), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 00:15 (twenty years ago)

All new shows should have built in kill-dates. The 'Wanted' show on TNT is about catching the 100 most wanted criminals in LA (figure a few eps where no one gets caught and you're at five seasons), this one has the guy sentenced to five years, there was another one I saw like that.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 00:31 (twenty years ago)

Fucking Mar†ha S†ewar†'s behind it!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 00:55 (twenty years ago)

Didn't they make a movie out of "She Spies" starring Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz?

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 01:34 (twenty years ago)

This dude is pretty badass for a structural engineer.

J Morilads, Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:41 (twenty years ago)

'wanted' is pretty boring. they've already had at least a couple episodes where they didn't catch anyone, i think, though, which is nice. gary cole seems kind of out of place.

she spies thread!

amon (eman), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:50 (twenty years ago)

I liked it a lot. Stacy Keach is back! And he's bad!

The surveillance tape certainly *looked* like he shot the guy. I wonder how they're going to explain that one.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 04:18 (twenty years ago)

the secret service doctored it! Who is the lady in montana or wyoming or whatever supposed to be? the first lady?

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 04:34 (twenty years ago)

that's why they want the tape back from dude's brother's old girlfriend, because there must be some evidence of doctoring in it or something, like his finger doesn't move on the trigger I don't know.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 04:37 (twenty years ago)

I didn't see the first half of the first episode, so there might be some plot points that are obvious that i'm missing.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 04:37 (twenty years ago)

I missed part of the first episode: is Fibonacci a mob informant in WP, and how does Michael know where he is, or is he bluffing?

Leeeeeeee (Leee), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 05:02 (twenty years ago)

I don't think he's bluffing - he had a photo of the dude.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 06:01 (twenty years ago)

yeah, some of this detailstuff has got to become clearer with time. or maybe i'm just dense (or both!).

kenan, he explained at one point that he went to the car window with his gun (to kill? threaten? what, i don't understand, but someone put him up to it, setting him up). and pointed his gun at someone who had already been clearly been shot in the head, so he just sorta spooked and jerked (which could have looked like he pulled the trigger though he never did), and then left.

also, OWWWWWWWSHIT.

Juulia (julesbdules), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

BLUEPRINTS TATTOOED ON BODY.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Wednesday, 31 August 2005 08:46 (twenty years ago)

Looks like it did pretty good ratings wise. This from V4ri3ty this morning: "Airing opposite preseason football on ABC and repeats on the other broadcast nets, the drama about a man who will do just about anything to get his incarcerated brother out of the slammer led its two hours in most key categories, including adults 18-49 (4.6/12) and total viewers (10.51 million), according to Nielsen -- giving Fox its best summer showing on a Monday in seven years."

Wiggy (Wiggy), Wednesday, 31 August 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

I disliked the pacing.

Leeeeeeee (Leee), Thursday, 1 September 2005 00:26 (twenty years ago)

good thing he tatooed the shape of the allen wrench on his arm, it's not like he could just TEST IT ON THE BOLT ON THE TOILET NEXT TO HIM IN HIS CELL haha

ronny longjohns (ronny longjohns), Thursday, 1 September 2005 02:21 (twenty years ago)

HAHAHA

joe schmoe (joeschmoe), Saturday, 3 September 2005 13:34 (twenty years ago)

I was pretty disappointed by this. Almost everything that happened in every scene struck me as highly improbable, as did the whole premise of the show.

Hurting (Hurting), Saturday, 3 September 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

Caught a little bit of this, I don't know if I like it. It seems a bit catered to fans who are going through 24 withdrawal. It's also got the same timeslot until 24 is back in January.

I'm curious as to what happens if the show becomes a hit. What the hell are they going to do for a second season?

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 4 September 2005 03:08 (twenty years ago)

They have to break back in, obviously.

The Yellow Kid, Sunday, 4 September 2005 03:55 (twenty years ago)

It's going to be like the Fugitive next season is what I've heard.

todd burns (toddburns), Sunday, 4 September 2005 05:20 (twenty years ago)

Haha Todd! Don't get my hopes up.

A QUOTE FROM BUGS BUNNY THE SHOW (Leee), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 04:39 (twenty years ago)

just watched the first five episodes

tattoo is so funny

who is the big baddy? martha stewart?

scofield's face seems v. unexpressive. this "of African-American, Jamaican, English, German, French, Dutch, Syrian and Lebanese descent" is incredible

burrows mumbles

the main secret service guy is weird, too

I very rarely like characters but I don't mind their shows. I wonder why

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 6 October 2005 13:07 (twenty years ago)

oh, I see there is already mention of martha stewart, on the thread, haha

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 6 October 2005 13:08 (twenty years ago)

haha, he MADE a drillbit

that will drill through concrete!!

lucky, that the infirmary has a huge drain with a wide grating and that the room with the concrete wall is full of tools or, at least, a lamp and stand

I am ready to laugh, when they manage to break through the wall, with, like, nine drill holes

why wouldn't they put a wee camera, in each cell? oh, I know

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 6 October 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

oh, and why do the overall shots, of the block, from the ground, look so fake?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 6 October 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

the young kid looks like christian bale's son

burrows' neck is massive, they'll probably use it in some later episode, to break a wall or some-such

the grass is so green in the overhead shots it makes them look really artificial to me...

I've only seen the first ep. but his tattoo is wtf... I don't get it

couldn't understand what half the inmates were saying half the time either

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 8 October 2005 08:07 (twenty years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 8 October 2005 23:39 (twenty years ago)

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 00:13 (twenty years ago)

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 26 November 2005 00:03 (twenty years ago)

I thought I liked lincoln's exgirlfriend, at first, but I really don't. her mouth looks like one of her eyebrows

the doctor is nice, though

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 26 November 2005 00:08 (twenty years ago)

this show is starting to bore me a little. Link's ex-g is incredibly boring.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 26 November 2005 00:12 (twenty years ago)

less eyelids would be better

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 26 November 2005 00:29 (twenty years ago)

i watch this, but its so fakey

he's pretty much just strolling around in ducts and pipes all day long at this point

ronny longjohns (ronny longjohns), Saturday, 26 November 2005 00:32 (twenty years ago)

lincoln looks like a cartoon rat

you're supposed to think he's muscly but his head is just massive

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 26 November 2005 00:36 (twenty years ago)

his neck is bigger than his head

and his body is bigger than his neck

I don't think I've ever seen his feet!!!!

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 26 November 2005 11:34 (twenty years ago)

t-bag is the best character on tv EVER haha

ok not ever but he singlehandedly makes this show worthwile

he should be in ever scene

It's back!

Is it normal to start out watching this show fancying Robin Tunney but grow to hate her stupid pouty head-shaking attempt at acting and her pretend speech defect voice?

Meanwhile, the doctor gets more and more lovely.

I thought that I quite liked her, for, maybe, two episodes, but, now, I know that I totally hate her

just started watching ep 16 and I realise that I think this show is really really really rubbish

just can't stand veronica or lincoln or michael or AJ or whatever his name is or anyone else, really

they are so so bad

will continue watching

RJG (RJG), Monday, 17 April 2006 09:48 (twenty years ago)

this ep is rubbish and made anything that might have been good, before it, rubbish

he borrowed 90, 000 and gave it to michael and said it was their mum's life insurance

he borrowed it before michael started college and got his job and stuff. took a while for his loaner to get around to insisting on repayment. lucky that the government found him and can trust him to get lincoln to do what they want and for no-one to find out

lincoln's selfless, low-talking, gruff grunts

michael has his own fancy corner office in an engineering firm but worked on the refit of some pishy prison (like, what, some new ceilings and services?)

lincoln "dropped off" veronica's "radar" but she will ruin her life to save his

the incredible video that the sound dude said was so professionally done has a guy airbrushing in the flash from the gun, frame by frame, in, like, photoshop

oh, now the doctor has a drug prob. excellent

when someone off camera says "madam vice-president", it sounded, for a moment, like he said "madam ex-president"

what a rubbish show!!!!!!!

it can only get worse, probably

oh, and all this flashback/overlap crap like it thinks it's lost or something

RJG (RJG), Monday, 17 April 2006 10:13 (twenty years ago)

I feel so stupid, watching this

it was funny, when the sucre guy goes back to the same convenience store , to get more money, for his girl, and the guy holds out a $100 bill and says "t-this, right?"

it was even OK when you see his stupid, well-dressed (supposedly) cousin, who is in love w/ sucre's girl even though he knows her even less than sucre, looking shifty, outside, after the police show up. who cares? but then he closes his phone and it says 911 on it oh my god maybe it was him that phoned the police because he fancies his cousin's girlfriend!!!!!!

t-bag showing up at the house was totally obvious from 2 seconds into that scene, too

RJG (RJG), Monday, 17 April 2006 10:36 (twenty years ago)

LOL at america's most wanted in the kitchen

what if michael's food delivery person had had something other than massive body tattoos?

I know this ep is, like, three weeks old but hahaha

RJG (RJG), Monday, 17 April 2006 10:45 (twenty years ago)

I don't know much about laws but I wonder how long the c-note dude woulda got for driving a truck once, that he would need to risk everything w/ a breakout. depends what was in the truck, I suppose, but maybe the judge heard about his idea to tell his wife he was going back to iraq and factored that into the sentencing

RJG (RJG), Monday, 17 April 2006 10:58 (twenty years ago)

I don't want to interrupt your monologue, but I was thinking much the same thing when I saw it. I mean, I know he ws dishonerably discharged from the army for smuggling or whatever, but can that affect a sentence for a real crime? Unless it was guns or shit loads of drugs, you'd think that'd be a few month sentence, or a slap on the wrist. Especially for a former military man.

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Monday, 17 April 2006 11:11 (twenty years ago)

This is one of those shows where if I had any (negative) critical reaction it would be crushed to death under the relentless advance of the ever-victorious shocktroop army of LUST.

But I think I'd like it even if it didn't have the hottest wax model ever in the lead role.

(Australia still wending its way towards the season one finale)

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 06:17 (twenty years ago)

So's America!

It is becoming so rubbish, though. The conspiracy plot is tedious and unimaginative (can't they at least be 12ft lizards?) and Michael's moral code is completely unconvincing at this point. I don't really want them to escape!

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 09:05 (twenty years ago)

gear (gear), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 07:53 (nineteen years ago)

I really like it but god damn it there's only so much I can take. Some of the double twists are just extremely offputting. I also know that one needs to do a "suspension of disbelief" but there's ony so much I can muster up. The "evil people in the high ranks of the government" is a bit silly. Also, those dialogues! Good GRIEF. I don't think I'll manage to keep on watching. It's very good - thanks to great acting on WM's part - but I always end up critizing it endlessly during the show itself. I'll say at the start of the episode (mostly to myself):Well, I'll give it another shot and be less critical but five minutes later I'm throwing my hands in the air at the extreme silliness. I mean, FFS, he runs around in pipes and five seconds later he's suddenly asleep in his cell. Also his distant slightly vacant staring is beginning to piss me off. He's probably thinking: I should've been in a Calvin Klein ad.

I'm watching season 2 but I think soon I'll give up. It ain't working for me anymore. :-(

nathalie, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:27 (nineteen years ago)

The premise was so farfetched (check out Lost as well for this) but now that they are out and about... I don't know, I ain't falling for it anymore. It's just... Maybe I prefer Wentworth with a buzzcut more. ;-)

nathalie, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

Season 1 was awesome because of the constrains and set rules and how they get around them etc. Now it's a bit random and just getting ridiculous esp T-Bag in da house. The pace has slackened a bit but I'm sticking with it.

Not the real Village People, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:39 (nineteen years ago)

I tuned out about three episodes into the second series.

Gukbe, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, the T-bag's intrusions are wickedly annoying. :-( I think I'll stick with it but my heart's not really in it anymore. I prefer the Wire. :-D
