Wolf Eyes - Human Animal

xpost - I didn't say they ever were. I just used to hope that maybe human history could move in a more rational direction.

And what do you do about it? Do you keep on carrying the banner of rationalism in spite of that being futile? Do you give up and join the crazies that best suit you because it's better to live with conviction? Do you just hide out on internet forums and complain a lot? Is it deluding yourself to even think you're being any more rational than anyone else?

the last.

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Friday, 22 September 2006 02:16 (nineteen years ago)

seriously, the thread entitled "jesus camp" should really include a link to the trailer for _Jesus Camp_ the movie, an expose of sorts that goes out of it's way to show the correlate between orthodox christians and muslim suicide bombers. the last scene shows a very young girl shedding tears of religious ecstasy. it evokes a strange mixture of feelings.

Um, it does.

I don't have that much anger, you're just a douchebag.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Friday, 22 September 2006 02:26 (nineteen years ago)

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Friday, 22 September 2006 02:27 (nineteen years ago)

It's neither logical, nor a fallacy.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Friday, 22 September 2006 02:36 (nineteen years ago)

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Friday, 22 September 2006 02:51 (nineteen years ago)

Judging from your rapid-fire responses, they're you're only.

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Friday, 22 September 2006 03:04 (nineteen years ago)

it's like he starts out with something that relates the right dependent clauses in the right ways, or at least ways that dependent clauses are supposed to relate to each other, and then sends it through google translator to a language w/ different ordering rules and then back to english, so that both the clauses and the phrases/words themselves point to totally unknowable places. take it out of context and it's like some weird kind of poetry.

Not quite as good as "I never her" but I think we could force it to become a short-lived meme.

if you think men are irrational, try talking to a woman!

how to talk to people who hate you and dealing with rightwing authoritarian types

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 22 September 2006 13:26 (nineteen years ago)

Great links... one of them points on to this piece about how both liberals' and conversatives' political and moral beliefs are based on their conceptions of "family", and does a good job of rationalising (i.e. understanding, not accepting!) the apparent irrationality of many conservative positions.

ledge (ledge), Friday, 22 September 2006 14:18 (nineteen years ago)

exactly, and i think it goes a great way to augment and upgrade Lakoff's take on rightwing families, too

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 22 September 2006 14:19 (nineteen years ago)

Guys, I just saw a Barbie doll that came with a toy dog that POOPED, I swear to god. Never mind anything posted on this thread, I really can't handle the idea that man is remotely rational when THAT exists.
