Am I A Psycho?

I was watching 6 feet under tonight, and Claire called Billy a fucking pyscho, and i went ooh, that's a bit harsh just cops he's bipolar (but later I remembered he'd fucked her over), but anyway, because of my illnesses and my fear of developing schizophrenina, I was talking to my flatmate, and I said, you know, I hope people don't think of me as a psycho.

And she went really quiet, and I went, What? and she said, well some people do...

And it really stunned me that some people think I'm a psycho, whatever that means.

So I guess the question here is, a)Do you think I'm a psycho

and

b) What's the weirdest thing people have thought of you that you never thought people would think of you as?

The Original Queen G, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

not that there's anything wrong with being a psycho, per se, it's just weird being on the other side...as the namee I guess. Though I don't think I've ever called nayone in my life a psycho...maybe she went psycho, but that's an action, not a naming.

The Original Queen G, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You don't seem like a psycho Queen G.

I'm surprised that so many people I know have at some point described me as bossy.

jel --, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

1) Are you psychotic? No, I don't think so....

2)The wierdest thing people have thought of me as is: straitlaced and quiet;>

Nichole Graham, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

a girl once told me that i was "a real Jon Spencer kind of guy" and my anger was perhaps due to my fear at it being true somehow

Tracer Hand, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tracer: I wouldn't be pissed at being compared to Jon Spencer. Could have been worse. How would you like to be Shane McGowan's twin;>?

Nichole Graham, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If every time Shane took a drink I felt it..... whoof. No thanks.

Tracer hand, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You never strike me as a psycho Geoff, I find you witty. Particularly the tooth brush comment last week.

Ronan, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(b)At some party last year a group of people thought I was the older brother of this girl I'd been trying to kiss. This made it doubly disappointing when I didn't succeed. Imagine how funny that could have been.

People always think I'm some indie cynic who hates dance, and are like "you like dance Ro? Really? Wow!" despite the fact that I've been talking about it for about 6 months incessantly. I guess I still look pretty indie, there are few long(ish) haired dance fans.

Ronan, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I DO NOT FIND YOU PYSCHO

anthony, Wednesday, 1 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i don't think you are psycho. probbly some people think i'm psycho, but i think that they just bring out the worst in me. what the people who love you and respect you think is what matters, everyone else can shove it.

di, Wednesday, 1 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Everyone around me thinks that I'm a born-again Christian. Which proves that nobody's been Googling me.

(Why? I don't know. Maybe because I'm quiet, don't talk to many other people, and wear my skirts down to the floor. Then again, most of the born-again Christians aren't like that. I'm mystified.)

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo, Wednesday, 1 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Thanks everyone for yr honest opinions - it helps a lot.

Queen G, Wednesday, 1 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i dont think you're a psycho at all! you're occasionally a bit rude (or used to be) but generally i find your posts interesting and witty and occasionally hilarious. gawd bless yer.

katie, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Never struck me as phsyco at all, funny and filthly rude yes, but not phsyco.

My brownie leader once described me as eccentric, which at the age of nine is pushing it a bit, especially coming from a woman who spends her evenings watching small girls in brown dresses and bobble hats dance around toadstools.

Anna, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Weirdest/most pernicious thing people think of me as: A 'NICE GIRL'... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Archel, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Queen G Seen throught the medium of black type on a white background I think you're a well expressed, thoughtful and funny individual. Maybe a little bit pervy. But I like that.

Anyway, fuckem and fergitabaat them. Psycho schmyco. Read some good ol' RD Laing and Will Self's Quantity Theory of Insanity and have a good old yuk at just how ridic the notion of madness is.

misterjones, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Queen G = a very good sort. And I shoulda said it earlier.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

again thank you all - will shower much love and faeces on you once i get to Tooowoomba, land of a thousand gardens and fundie christians.

QUeen G on the move, Friday, 3 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tracer doesn't remind me of John Spencer. I believe the correct person might be someone who's first name is Paul, who happens to append DJ to his name, who went to Brown University. ;)

Ally, Friday, 3 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Errr, can you tell I'm stressed tonight? I meant MC, not DJ. So now it's not nearly as funny an injoke. Pffffffff. That's what ovens and jails do to you.

Ally, Friday, 3 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You are by definition a mentalist Goeff but not a psycho as far as I know.

Nobody thinks anything weird about me - I conform exactly to all expectations.

Tom, Saturday, 4 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A certain prominent ILE poster once told me (at one of the many Blue Posts) that another very prominent ILE poster thought I was a psycho. That hurt.

DG, Saturday, 4 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That's what ovens and jails do to you.

! Uh, together or separately?

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 4 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Separately, do you think they have ovens in jails? Look at the food.

Ally, Saturday, 4 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A girl I sort of used to go out with, after we had sort of split up, told another friend of mine that she had been getting weird phonecalls (like, someone ringing, breathing down the phone and hanging up) and apparently she thought it was me. I've hardly ever been as disappointed in a person.

Oh, and my friend told me that a conversation took place in my abscence whereby my friends were trying to decide if they knew anyone who was completely nice and sane. It seems my name was put forward and then rejected as being not sane! I'm still confused over that.

My now girlfriend, upon first (briefly) meeting me, said I 'sounded like Spud from trainspotting'. Now who's the psycho here?

Ally C, Saturday, 4 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

two years pass...
Thanks to this thread: Let's all use the Random Function

a) Don't know enough to say whether Queen G is a psycho or not
b) Some people at work are convinced I'm a Creationist, just because I disagreed with Mr "Science proves God doesn't exist", and bother to actually read up on things like the Anthropic Principle, rather than relying on anti-Creationist websites to inform me.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 27 May 2004 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a psychology professor who said that the main trait of a psychopath was the complete lack of guilt.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Thursday, 27 May 2004 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess it kind of depends on whether you are going by the medical definition of 'psychosis' or the popular notion of a 'psycho'.

By the standard medical definition (the last I heard), bipolar disorder is a psychosis - as opposed to a neurosis. But it is more and more controllable through medication, so that psychotic *behavior* is far less common in bipolar patients. Presumably, that's you.

By the popular notion, a psycho is someone who is subject to fits of weird, unpredictable and oftentimes dangerous behavior - to themselves or others. Bipolar disorder can produce that kind of behavior at times, but with the emphasis on weird and unpredictable, with a lesser emphasis on danger to the patient - and hardly ever a danger to others. That could be you, at times, I guess.

You'd not be the world's best judge of your own behavior in this regard, unfortunately. It sort of comes with the territory.

Going to bash my "friends" head in with an axe handle tomorrow. The blade is missing so he won't be chopped up. It's really light but hurts like fuck if you get smacked with it.
Don't want to do long term damage, just hurt a lot.
He IS a psycho. Accused me of being his enemy and a spy against him. Also made up many lies about things I never said. He believes it all.
I'm not a psycho. I'm just upset and angry.

Moth, Monday, 14 June 2004 23:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Riiight... so hes a psycho for a few things he said, but you're perfectly fine bashing someones HEAD IN.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:21 (twenty-two years ago)

It makes me feel a little queasy to read about someone getting their head smacked in tomorrow, like some bad episode of Tru Calling

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

violence is not the answer!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:26 (twenty-two years ago)

People only think I'm a psycho when I like talk or laugh or interact with reality and stuff.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Accused me of being his enemy and a spy against him. Also made up many lies about things I never said. He believes it all.

I dunno, man. He's pretty convincing. Whackin him over the head is probably not the best way to get the rest of the world to come 'round to thinking that he's the psycho one.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)

These are the dangers of RPG addiction

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Fine.Legs and shoulders.No head.
I don't care who thinks who is the psycho. He said some really fucking nasty things to me and I've only ever tried to help him. All because I pointed out he wasn't as perfect as he likes to think/stink. Everyone knows he's the mental one. His wife has put up with the same shit for years.

Moth, Monday, 14 June 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

So if you don't like him, the best revenge is stay out of his life and keep him out of your own. Beating the shit out of him with the handle of an axe won't make him change his mind about you and it certainly won't make you feel any better.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:40 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i suppose. it makes me feel sad to think of not being friends anymore though but he was disgusting filth and i have the RAGE.
maybe just hide in the dark for ever.

Moth, Monday, 14 June 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

No need to hide in the dark over it.

A cliche maybe, but time heals all wounds. There was period of time where I was keen to hack my exes balls off with the blunt rusty saw, but seriously, getting violent never proves anything except exactly what you're trying to disprove...that you're a psycho.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey moth, is there a way you can get your anger out without hurting him, and bringing on yourself various legal and emotional retributions? Like, can you beat him upo in your mind, or smack away at a beanbag and pretend it's him, to get it out of your system?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

He doesn't think I'm a psycho though. Just one of many people who tried to fuck him over. Even though I've done nothing and the only evidence for this has been created in his own ill mind and sick memory.

Ummm I could go and make music maybe, music mole. Hiding in the dark and sleeping sounds best though

Moth, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

is it likely you'll actually do this thing with the axe? maybe you're already beating him upo (sic) in your head

greg chappell (gaz), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I say do whatever helps you avoid a physical assault charge

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Definitely.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll go and cry until I fall asleep then. And he can walk about talking crap to people about me. Waving fat arse all over. Only lives two doors away though. Going to bed now
p.s Axe Handle. No head on it so nothing would be severed. Probably wouldn't call the police anyway since he thinks they are all against him too
