I can see why people find Agalloch boring but they bring the atmospheric goods for me

ultros ultros-ghali, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:49 (nine years ago) link

did not like what i heard of yob.

but hey, i suspect they are indeed in the top 5

mark e, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:49 (nine years ago) link

ooops : top 2 ..

mark e, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:50 (nine years ago) link

marrow sounded so vital, but this album sounds leaden. Ive given it a lot of listens in case it grew on me, but nope.

auto focus, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:50 (nine years ago) link

Saw Pallbearer and Yob live - Yob blew Pallbearer away! hopefully yob make no 1.

auto focus, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:51 (nine years ago) link

woah I made it back home for the top 2... I have no idea what they are, I thought Scott 0))) and Earth were clinchers. YOB??? Didn't know they were that well liked.

Frobisher, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:54 (nine years ago) link

xp otm

and I enjoyed pallbearer live, YOB was just supernatural

anonanon, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:54 (nine years ago) link

bet Pallbearer is #1. That Earth album is great, btw. If you haven't listened I recommend it.

Frobisher, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:54 (nine years ago) link

Pallbearer has more mass appeal that YOB imo.

Frobisher, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:55 (nine years ago) link

YOB record is way better tho

original bgm, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:56 (nine years ago) link

i think this is the first album where YOB have captured what is great about seeing them live on record. Mike Scheidt seems a really cool guy too.

The Pallbearer album just missed being really great.

auto focus, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:57 (nine years ago) link

and Marrow just destroys me every time i hear it

auto focus, Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:58 (nine years ago) link

i loved love loved 'burning the altar' but ever since yob seem to keep getting more boring even though they also keep doing things that are obviously good to do, hmph

j., Thursday, 18 December 2014 19:59 (nine years ago) link

This Triptikon album is a fucking snoozefest...

ultros ultros-ghali, Thursday, 18 December 2014 20:00 (nine years ago) link

I've still never listened to Yob. Is this a good one to start on, then?

jmm, Thursday, 18 December 2014 20:00 (nine years ago) link

unless....unless we're all wrong and it's Barghest and Goat Penis battling for 1 and 2

auto focus, Thursday, 18 December 2014 20:01 (nine years ago) link

xp yeah, i think its their best album

auto focus, Thursday, 18 December 2014 20:01 (nine years ago) link

how exciting is this !

i realise i am not a metal fan boy, and only dip into the stuff that fits a very particular need, but damn this thread has been f*cking ace ..

well I'll be damned!

Frobisher, Thursday, 18 December 2014 20:07 (nine years ago) link

I think Pallbearer took the lead with the 2nd last ballot but YOB pulled it back with the last

Cosmic Slop, Thursday, 18 December 2014 20:07 (nine years ago) link

This Triptikon album is a fucking snoozefest...

― ultros ultros-ghali,

I tend to agree, not sure why everyone loves it so much.

Frobisher, Thursday, 18 December 2014 20:08 (nine years ago) link
