So tell us - when you listen to something why are you listening? Are you really listening? Or do do you just listen to stuff to say you've listened to it? Or would you hear it the same way no matter how you were listening? Or if you heard it differently with every listen would you still write about it the same way? Do ou write about stuff before you listen to it? Do you listen to stuff that you think you should write about? Do you write about stuff you think you should listen to? Do you write about stuff you think other people should listen to? Do you listen to stuff you think other people should write about? Do you write and listen at the same time? Do you think that if you listened to stuff the same time you were writing it you would write different stuff? If you didn't write anything about the stuff you were listening to would you listen to different stuff? Do you write differently each time about the same stuff? Do you write the same way about a lot of different stuff? Is any stuff actually all that different from any other stuff? If stuff isn't different from other stuff do you write about it so it makes it seem like it is? If stuff is the same as other stuff then do you write about so it makes it seem like it isn't? Do you write dfferen things about different stuff at different times because you listen differently at different times to both the same stuff and different stuff or do you write the same thing about both different stuff and the same stuff at different times because when you listen to stuff and write about you listen and write differently than when you listen to stuff at times when you might write differently about the same stuff or different stuff or else the same as about the same stuff or different stuff? Have you ever startd off listening to somehing you thought was the same or different to some other stuff but then found out that it was actually the same or different to some other stuff different to the previous other stuff and wrote about it the same or differently than you would've if the the first stuff was more or less similar to the second stuff than the third stuff?

So tell us -
when you listen to something?

Whenever I can actually find one of my *good* pair of headphones.
why are you listening?
can't stand chores with 'choons.
Are you really listening?
depends on my mood.
Or do do you just listen to stuff to say you've listened to it?
If I told you no, would you believe me?
Or would you hear it the same way no matter how you were listening?
Define "how". This "how you are listening" is confusing me.
Or if you heard it differently with every listen...
With a good record (or one you haven't heard in awhile) you hear something new with each playback. A boring record sounds exactly the same each time.
...would you still write about it the same way?
Nope.
Do you write about stuff before you listen to it?
I might write about a band I haven't heard yet, but not a record I haven't heard yet.
Do you listen to stuff that you think you should write about?
Only if I get paid.
Do you write about stuff you think you should listen to?
Dunno.
Do you write about stuff you think other people should listen to?
Definitely.
Do you listen to stuff you think other people should write about?
Hey, its a free country. Go Nuts!
Do you write and listen at the same time?
Yes. Most of the time.
Do you think that if you listened to stuff the same time you were writing it you would write different stuff?
Dunno, haven't experimented yet.
If you didn't write anything about the stuff you were listening to would you listen to different stuff?
Dunno.
Do you write differently each time about the same stuff?
Possibly.
Do you write the same way about a lot of different stuff?
Ummm. I'll get back to you on that one.
Is any stuff actually all that different from any other stuff?
Grapefruits are not lawnmowers. Cheesy Poofs are not Kittens.
If stuff isn't different from other stuff do you write about it so it makes it seem like it is?
"Stuff" is awfully vague. Can you be more specific?
If stuff is the same as other stuff then do you write about so it makes it seem like it isn't?
Syntax Error. Bad Command or Filename.
Segmentation Fault. Kernel Panic. Core Dumped. System Halted.

This reminds me of that She Silversteen poem with the zebra, where the zebra gets irate about being asked "Are you black with white stripes? Or white with black stripes?" and the zebra spews a list of questions. "Are you sad with happy days? Or happy with sad days?"

Fivvy (Fivvy), Monday, 31 March 2003 17:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Curses! Ghost of Silversteen, don't frown on me! I meant Shel.

Do you write dfferen things about different stuff at
different times because you listen differently at different times to both the same stuff and different stuff or do you write the same thing about both different stuff and the same stuff
at different times because when you listen to stuff and write about you listen and write differently than when you listen to stuff at times when you might write differently about the
same stuff or different stuff or else the same as about the same stuff or different stuff?

This is my favorite one.
