J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 16 April 2004 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

"Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" probably, but it's a hell of a choice to make.

Maciej, Friday, 16 April 2004 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Back when you could still check actual vinyl records out of the library, I picked up Road to Ruin after reading the Ramones mentioned in various magazines (I must have been 12 or 13). I would play side 2 over and over, but the one that sticks out is "Go Mental" because it directly followed "I Wanna Be Sedated" (the record's most obviously hook-laden song). The contrast between the two tracks is sharp, that whenever someone mentions the Ramones to this day, the very first thing that pops into my head is "Go Mental."

Mark M, Sunday, 18 April 2004 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

okay, i think they nausea has passed now. i'm gonna go to bed now. thanks everyone for the kind words and advice on what to do. i think we're going to confront them about the noise problem. we may even move out when our lease is up. we had a talk about it and we realized that we have to just accept the fact that we may lose friendships over this. it's hard. i ran the marathon with him after all. plus, she's been a good friend to my wife. very encouraging. never mind the manipulative bullshite. anyway, thanks again!

Today: "I Wanna Live"

I been thinking it over
and I know just what to do
I been thinking it over
and I know I just can't trust myself

I'm a gypsy in Fra-ance
covered in diamonds and jewels
oh then my lover exposes me
and I know I'm just
a damn fool

I give what I got to give
I give what I need to live
I give what I got to give
It's important if I wanna live

I wanna live
I wanna live my life
I wanna live
I want to live my life

As I load my pistol
of fine German steel
I never thought I'd be so down and out
havin' my last meal

But I know I can do it
it just took up the years
as I execute my killers
the morning is near

I wanna live
I want to live my life
I wanna live
I want to live my life

snazz, Friday, 17 September 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

"Sheena", "We're A Happy Family" and "Rockaway Beach" all burned their way into my brain as one monolithic clump when I first heard 'em (when I first heard PUNK) on Dec. 31, 1977 while visiting relatives. But "Rockaway Beach" proved to be the most unforgettable - couldn't get it out of my head during the car trip home. So, that one.

re the upcoming movie doc on Danny Fields called "Danny Says" with a link to a 1975 tape of Lou Reed talking about the Ramones to Danny

Wow. Thanks

Pigbag Wanderer (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 28 December 2014 22:20 (eleven years ago)

It's an interesting article about a fascinating guy

curmudgeon, Tuesday, 30 December 2014 17:20 (eleven years ago)

Danny Fields is one of the most consistently entertaining and likable people in "Please Kill Me." Of all the trash-talking in that book, nobody really trashes him -- seems like he loved the bands and tried to do right by them (while having a good time himself).
