entertainment, excitement, undiluted hyperbole, sheer waffle, complete bullshit, what exactly? actual information delivered in an earnest, taken very seriously factual manner?

One thing I look for is who played on the record. If I see Greg Leisz's name the CD moves directly to the front of my queue.

Sub Pop does it right--all the info is on the back of the promo case. Press release, contact number, everything. It's amazingly convenient for editors.

what about the tone...do you want just factual stuff...no hyperbole?? (i'm interested because i have to start doing this soon for my band)....i assume trying to be "funny" is a no-no...

could someone post an example of a functional and well written band press release?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 27 May 2004 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

if you wanna crib notes that bad, just see a pitchfork review and delete all the personal stuff.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 27 May 2004 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

being funny is okay, but think about what you think might help people understand or get what your band is saying or where they're coming from or something. Give the music some context.
