CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 25 June 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

slow motion is pretty awesome. not to mention sexxxually exxxplicit.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 25 June 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

scandalous came out over a year ago! I think we decided it wasn't as good as the older mis-teeq songs, I'm sure it was in a focus group.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I already repped
Maria Mena's single
on another thread!

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Mis-Teeq are the worst British urban act ever.

(Big Brovaz aren't actually music so they don't count)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha I didn't even know Mis-Teeq was a british act until a week ago! This song is just breaking in the US now.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I really need to hear early Mis-Teeq because "Scandalous" is my tenth favorite single of the year right now.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

anybody heard "So Fly" yet? It's kind of like how I imagine Next would sound like if they rapped.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

anthony i implore you to check out the sunship remix of "one night stand", like, yesterday

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

also slow motion is so much better screwed and chopped because then that little guitar figure gets even slower and sadder

RIP SOULJA SLIM

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

haha since I have no internet at home (I'm in a computer lab) and basically rely on the radio and launch.com for new music I'm probably not going to be able to hunt this shit down until September (cable internet at new apt is a must).

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

yo, cece: R. Kelly - U Saved Me

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

argh the "urban" station in town hasn't even started playing "Happy People" yet (not that I'm complaining about their eternal devotion to "Step In The Name Of Love" and "Ignition").

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

"Scandalous" only just came out here??? It was getting old when I left the UK a year ago!

Why such a long wait?

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

"Happy People" is a steaming pile of dung.

Maria Mena's single isn't terrible, though not wildly original either.

Mis-Teeq....whatever. Yawn. So, you're sexy. Next?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

excuse me but "Naughty Girl" is about how she's sexy, "Scandalous" is about how YOU'RE sexy.

I think I like Maria Mena's single because it sounds like Alanis gone so completely batshit that's she's forgotten to be pretentious.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

So, you're sexy. Next?

..........BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Why such a long wait?

like this is the first time something released in the UK took ages to get to the US.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex you should have your own column. Oh wait, you kind of do, don't you?

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

well (cue: violin) there's no byline, and I can't choose which artists to write about...and oh woe is me, etc.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

the mis-teeq single is doing fairly well too. it cracked the top 40 on the billboard 100 this week.

adam west (adamwest), Saturday, 26 June 2004 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

what about that new faithless jam? pretty epic on the hook, fresh production in places. overly political but not totally awful.

juiceboxxx (juiceboxxx), Saturday, 26 June 2004 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Mis-Teeq are great, the album was one of my top ten for last year, and all you plain ol haters can shove it.

Anthony I think you'd like the Mis-Teeq album, it's very dynamic.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 26 June 2004 06:15 (twenty-one years ago)

what about that new faithless jam? pretty epic on the hook, fresh production in places. overly political but not totally awful.

Just heard this last night, and it's mighty good!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 26 June 2004 06:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Faithless jam? Oh, my, ILM you kill me. It's the worst song since that song Maxi Jazz did with 1 Giant Fucking Leap.

edward o (edwardo), Saturday, 26 June 2004 06:25 (twenty-one years ago)

dude, its not that bad, esp compared to other faithless songs, which im sure ive heard sometime in my life.

juiceboxxx (juiceboxxx), Saturday, 26 June 2004 06:33 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i was flirting with starting a Slow motion thread just because it's so surprising how little mention there's been here. The video totally takes it to another level too, completely sad and sweet and a little overwhelming.

Ade (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 26 June 2004 06:33 (twenty-one years ago)

you pieces of shit

Ade (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 26 June 2004 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Step off Mis-Teeq haters because they're wonderful. Lickin' On Both Sides is perfect in every way... Eye Candy is not, but it does have "Scandalous" and "Nitro" on it.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 27 June 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Lex, what do you dislike about Eye Candy? The title track alone is genius.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 27 June 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Eye Candy, but cumulatively it's quite underwhelming compared to LOBS... the tunes don't have quite as much oomph, they're not as steel-edged and confident. Also, it doesn't have the radio version of "Can't Get It Back", which is criminal! Actually, in places the less direct moments on Eye Candy feel like prototypes for the kind of micro-R&B ballad Jamelia is doing nowadays.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 27 June 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Taz - Can't Contain Me

scg, Sunday, 27 June 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

seven months pass...
NB Ridaz - So Fly

This song was starting to get some air in San Antonio before I left for college and it was one of my favorite singles of the year.

Matt Chesnut, Thursday, 3 February 2005 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I still had Licking On Both Sides.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 3 February 2005 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

What does everyone think of the R Kelly single that came out about a month ago, I think it was called "Red Carpet" or something. Another stepping song. I dug it.

Mobb Drake (djdee2005), Thursday, 3 February 2005 04:59 (twenty-one years ago)

still don't get why Rahsaan Patterson's "So Hot" hasn't been repped much here. Lyrically, it's an adult (ie. "mature") version of Usher's "Yeah". Musically, it's R. Kelly's Happy People turned up a notch. Vocally, it's near perfection. What gives?
