My vote: "I Want You" off "Blood and Chocolate". Any thoughts? (This is what I get for spending too much time in my itunes library)

John Justen (johnjusten), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

right now i'm gonna say "king horse", might change in a few minutes

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:30 (twenty-one years ago)

"Beyond Belief"

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:33 (twenty-one years ago)

"Party Girl"

("Beyond Belief" would make my top 5, probly)

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm, maybe we should make this poo per album up til whenever you stopped following the plot

my aim is true: (the angels wanna wear my) red shoes
this year's model: lip service
armed forces: party girl
get happy!!: riot act
trust: new lace sleeves
almost blue: why don't you love me (like you used to do)?
imperial bedroom: little savage
punch the clock: shipbuilding
goodbye cruel world: the comedians
king of america: suit of lights
blood and chocolate: tokyo storm warning
spike: veronica
mighty like a rose: so like candy
the juliet letters: jacksons, monk, and rowe
brutal youth: 13 steps lead down
kojak variety: brilliant disguise
all this useless beauty: little atoms

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

right now...I Hope You're Happy Now. (but I'll 2nd Party Girl, Beyond Belief, King Horse and Little Atoms...I think I Want You a tad overrated)

Al (sitcom), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:58 (twenty-one years ago)

(is that the kind of attack you were looking for?)

Al (sitcom), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. (well, not really...)

Ok, on further consideration, I'll throw in "Green Shirt" from this years model (especially the acoustic demo version), "Let Him Dangle" from Spike, and an even split between "For Other Eyes" and "This Offer is Unrepeatable" from Juliet Letters.

I'm still sticking with "I Want You" for Blood and Chocolate, though...

John Justen (johnjusten), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

By album? Alrighty then....

My Aim is True - "I'm Not Angry"
This Year's Model - "(I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea"
Armed Forces - "Goon Squad"
Get Happy! - "I Can't Stand Up for Falling Down"
Trust - "Lover's Walk"
Almost Blue -- nope, nothin' there.
Imperial Bedroom - "Beyond Belief"
Punch the Clock - Probably "Let them All Talk"

..then I checked out for a while until....

Spike - "This Town"
Mighty Like a Rose - "So Like Candy"

...and then I sort've stopped for good.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:20 (twenty-one years ago)

alex you should definitely check out blood and chocolate and brutal youth. king of america's great too but maybe not up your alley.

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"Alison"

Keith C (kcraw916), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

actually right now "Bedlam" off the new one is a favorite. I'm on the fence about whether I want to check out the current tour, though, just because Steve Nieve isn't on board for this one.

Al (sitcom), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:33 (twenty-one years ago)

"No Action" has been my standby for a while.

Jeff Reguilon (Talent Explosion), Friday, 18 March 2005 06:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm had a hard time picking 1 song per album, so I picked whatever I wanted...

My Aim Is True - 'Watching The Detectives' /'Alison'
This Years Model - '(I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea' /'Pump It Up' / 'Radio Radio'
Armed Forces - 'Party Girl' /'Oliver's Army'
Get Happy! - 'High Fidelity'
Trust - 'New Lace Sleeves' / 'Lovers Walk'
Imperial Bedroom 'Beyond Belief'
King Of America 'Indoor Fireworks' / 'Brilliant Mistake'
Blood and Chocolate 'Uncomplicated' / 'I Want You'
Spike 'Veronica'
All This Useless Beauty 'Complicated Shadows'

I don't think I can pick just one favorite right now. Maybe Indoor Fireworks as of this very moment. That will change though...

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 18 March 2005 06:22 (twenty-one years ago)

"I Want You" might be it though. Fie on overratedness!

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 18 March 2005 06:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i dunnnnnno, maybe "man out of time" or something?

he has a lot of good songs!

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 18 March 2005 06:55 (twenty-one years ago)

or maybe "beyond belief"...?

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 18 March 2005 07:04 (twenty-one years ago)

(both really disturbing songs btw)

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 18 March 2005 07:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I finally got round to playing "When I was cruel", £3 from Fopp, yesterday.

It sounded great, but I didn't care anymore. Stopped it before the end.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 18 March 2005 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i listened to Beyond Belief way too much and now it makes me ill. it got to the point where i couldn't make a mixtape without putting it in. i think i included it as the mystery unlisted bonus track on a Nick Drake comp i did someone once.

I Want You is a good alternative. dude has issues. otherwise, i'd say Lipstick Vogue has been unduly neglected thus far in the thread.

Lee F# (fsharp), Friday, 18 March 2005 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Going for "London's Brilliant Parade" off "Brutal Youth".

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 18 March 2005 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

either "Man Out of Time," which I obsess over most, or "Temptation," whichi s the one I play the most, or "I Hope You're Happy Now," which is the one I hum to myself the most.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Friday, 18 March 2005 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

either "pills and soap" or "little palaces."

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 18 March 2005 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

POX: Elvis Costello

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 18 March 2005 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

And I see from my post there that I forgot about "Shipbuilding". A marvellous song from a patchy album.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 18 March 2005 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Another vote for "I Hope You're Happy Now."

Jazzbo (jmcgaw), Friday, 18 March 2005 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

"I Want You" is a pretty damn good candidate.

"Town Cryer"?

southern lights (southern lights), Friday, 18 March 2005 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

eeesh, two of my least-favorite-among-the-most-lauded costello songs (see also 'pills and soap')

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 18 March 2005 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

has anyone else here seen the video for "man out of time" btw?

it's totally meaningless and silly, and somehow makes the song much more distrubing/poignant than it would be otherwise (well for me)

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 18 March 2005 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Hand in Hand, from This Year's Model.

I'll also throw in You Little Fool from Imperial Bedroom, Brilliant Mistake from King of America, Pretty Words from Trust (easily my favorite EC CD), Crimes of Paris from Blood & Chocolate, and Party Girl from Armed Forces.

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Friday, 18 March 2005 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

omg i just realized i was mashing together "man out of time" (the song) and the video for "you little fool"

mind playin tricks on me

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 18 March 2005 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Hands down, gotta be "alison"

jedidiah (jedidiah), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

"Watch Your Step", HELLO
I'm w/Alex in NYC, except I couldn't even make it past "Spike"

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

god I'm unusually hung over and I'm thinking about all these elvis costello songs trying to figure out my favorite and frankly it makes me want to vomit. dude's so pent up and hostile! so much damage, urgh, my stomach

miccio (miccio), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

now I can't get the fucker out of my head! i'm trying to think of something pleasant and i just see that bespectacled urkelite making nasal gasps and telling supermodels and the government (same difference) that he knows where it goes.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

anyhow I'm sure my answer is something off of This Years Model.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

actually no, it's "Kinder Murder."

miccio (miccio), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Saw this thread title and thought, "Whatever this guy says, my choice would be 'I Want You.'"

Jason Toon, Friday, 18 March 2005 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

You should have stuck to your guns, Anthony. I can't even remember what that song sounds like, but the title seems like some sort of bad bilingual pun.

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

well it's more like my stomach soothed after I thought of the riff from "Kinder Murder" so I went with that. I'm not sure what the song's actually about though, I haven't heard it in years. I just like the verse hook.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

haha miccio you call EC a hateful little man like it's a bad thing

Al (sitcom), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

My Aim Is True - "(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes"
This Year's Model - "No Action"
Armed Forces - "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding"
Get Happy!! - "King Horse"
Trust - "Clubland"
Almost Blue - The only song I've heard is "Good Year For The Roses," and I can't say I'm crazy about it
Imperial Bedroom - "Beyond Belief" (probably my overall favorite)
Punch The Clock - "Everyday I Write The Book"
Goodbye Cruel World - "Love Field" (the only one I know from this album)
King Of America - "Brilliant Mistake"
Blood & Chocolate - "Tokyo Storm Warning"
Spike - "Veronica"
Mighty Like A Rose - "The Other Side Of Summer"

I'm in the dark about the next few, until...

When I Was Cruel - "Alibi"

John Fredland (jfredland), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

depends on my mood, dude! last thing I need this morning.

(x-post)

miccio (miccio), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

not many people are saying anything about the more recent records, so I'll put in a couple votes for "God Give Me Strength" and "45"

Al (sitcom), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

haha miccio you call EC a hateful little man like it's a bad thing
Here's a similar soundbite from another poster on a thread where EC showed up and took over for a while

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't remember who said it but 'billy joel is the american elvis costello/elvis costello is the british billy joel' is still one of the more otm statements i've seen on ilx

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, I imagine it's a common gripe. I just don't think it would go very far in a thread like this. most of the people listing songs in this thread are probably not bothered by the fact that Elvis is a nasty hostile or dude or that that's the character than inhabits most of his songs. (xp)

Al (sitcom), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost

On that note, I just got Painted From Memory recently, and I can't believe I ignored this one for so long. Amazing record, up there with his best. That being said, "I Still Have That Other Girl" is probably my favorite post-Trust EC tune right now.

Keith C (kcraw916), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah PFM really is slept on. I love that one and "Toledo".

Al (sitcom), Friday, 18 March 2005 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Lipstick Vogue

darin (darin), Friday, 18 March 2005 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

My Aim Is True: "Welcome to the working week"
This Year's Model: "Lipstick vogue"
Armed Forces: "Green shirt"
Get Happy!!: "King horse"
Trust: "White knuckles"
Almost Blue: "Good year for the roses"
Imperial Bedroom: "Beyond belief"
Punch the Clock: "Pills and soap"
Goodbye Cruel World: "Peace in our time"
King of America: "American without tears"
Blood and Chocolate: "Battered old bird"

and almost anything off Taking Liberties.

ffirehorse, Friday, 18 March 2005 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

dude's so pent up and hostile!

Maybe in 1986 he was. Not anymore. That's why most (not all) of his recent material bites.

ffirehorse, Friday, 18 March 2005 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i dunno I heard some pissy shit about hot lobotomies on When I Was Cruel

miccio (miccio), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember feeling like "dude wtf you've been married for about a decade" but then I found out he just got divorced so there ya go

miccio (miccio), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

"Pump It Up"

disclaimer: I'm not really an EC fan

o. nate (onate), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Nobody's cited anything from "Trust," so I'll vote for "You'll Never Be A Man," which is the usual snide putdowns except he puts his homoerotic subtexts up front.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Friday, 18 March 2005 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

My Aim Is True: "Alison"
This Year's Model: "This Year's Girl"
Armed Forces: "Oliver's Army"
Get Happy: "New Amsterdam"
Trust: "Clubland"
Almost Blue: "A Good Year For The Roses"
Imperial Bedroom: "The Long Honeymoon"
Punch The Clock: "Shipbuilding"
Goodbye Cruel World: (nothing worth mentioning)
Blood & Chocolate: "I Want You"
King Of America: "Little Palaces"
Spike: "Veronica"
Mighty Like a Rose: "So Like Candy"
Brutal Youth: "London's Brilliant Parade"

Not familiar enough with the more recent stuff, but "God Give Me Strength" is of course classic!

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 18 March 2005 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember feeling like "dude wtf you've been married for about a decade"

Good point. Like someone else said earlier, dude's got issues.

ffirehorse, Friday, 18 March 2005 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Spike - "Veronica"

Spike - "Veronica"

Spike "Veronica"

Spike - "This Town"

So, essentially, those are the only 2 worthwhile songs on Spike, right?

ffirehorse, Friday, 18 March 2005 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

no, baby plays around is as good as those two.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a lot of favorites but near the very top is Couldn't Call it unexpected #4 (or whatever number it is), the last song on Mighty Like a Rose. I don't like much else on that album but that is really the most perfect example of that era of Costello's work, for me.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, I'll play.

My Aim Is True: "Sneaky Feelings" (though if you can count bonus disc material I think the acoustic demo of "Mystery Dance" rocketh)

This Year's Model: "Chelsea" probably (just about tied with "Pump it Up")

Armed Forces: "Accidents Will Happen" (though if you count bonus disc material I might vote for "My Funny Valentine")

Get Happy: "New Amsterdam"

Almost Blue: "How Much I Lied"

Imperial Bedroom: "Man Out Of Time"

Punch the Clock: "The Invisible Man"

Goodbye Cruel World: "Peace in our Time"

King Of America: "Sleep Of The Just"

Spike: "Tramp the Dirt Down"

Mighty Like A Rose: "Hurry Down Doomsday" probably (near-tie with "So Like Candy"

Kojak Variety: "Everybody's Crying Mercy"

All This Useless Beauty: "Little Atoms"

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

You skipped Trust, Puffin. Or was that on purpose?

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

So, essentially, those are the only 2 worthwhile songs on Spike, right?

There are a couple of really nice Irish folk influenced ballads in there. I still prefer "Veronica", though, which I consider one of his best ever songs.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I do quite like "Let Him Dangle", actually.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 19 March 2005 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

My Aim Is True : Alison
This Years Model : Lipstick Vogue
Armed Forces : Party Girl
Get Happy : Riot Act
Trust : New Lace SLeeves
Almost Blue : A Good Year For The Roses
Imperial Bedroom : Man Out Of Time
Punch the Clock : Charm School
Goodbye Cruel World : Inch By Inch
King Of America : Indoor Fireworks
Blood & Chocolate : I Want You
Spike : Veronica
Mighty Like A Rose : Couldnt Call It Unexpected No 4
Brutal Youth : All the Rage
Kojak Variety : I've Been Wrong Before
All This Useless Beauty : Complicated Shadows
Painted From Memory : Toledo
When I Was Cruel : 45
North : Impatience
The Delivery Man : Button My Lip

David N (David N.), Saturday, 19 March 2005 02:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrrgh lapsed Costellophile cannot resist

My Aim Is True: "Less Than Zero"
This Year's Model: "I Don't Wanna Go To Chelsea" and/or "Night Rally"
Armed Forces: "Oliver's Army"
blah blah blah albums I don't have
Blood & Chocolate: "I Hope You're Happy Now" and/or "Home Is Anywhere You Hang Your Head"
Spike: "Baby Plays Around" (acoustic demo from the reissue)
When I Was Cruel: "15 Petals" (title?)

Dave M. (rotten03), Saturday, 19 March 2005 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Why did I skip Trust? Dunno. Do I even have a copy of Trust? Probably not. Of the songs on it that are also elsewhere I'd go with "Watch Your Step."

Now that I think about it, "Watch Your Step" is close in line for a favoritest all-time ever EC song.

The cover of it by Brenda Kahn on the Almost You tribute record is one for the Favoritest Covers Ever list.

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Monday, 21 March 2005 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I've even thought about Elvis Costello since Spike came out. Is he still good?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 21 March 2005 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe, but I just don't have the energy to find out. If I listened to everything he puts out that'd leave no time for doing anything else.

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Monday, 21 March 2005 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Mad P OTM. Has anyone ever looked at this site http://www.elviscostello.info/articles.php? He's got a listing of every single thing ever written about him on there- if there were some write-ups in local Pennysavers I wouldn't be surprised if it's catalogued, if not reprinted on the site. I saw at least one of your by-lines in there- how many can you find?

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 21 March 2005 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

"I want you" is the one that always springs to mind, partly because it stands alone - unlike Lipstick Vogue, or King Horse, there's nothing else like it in his catalogue (even the other slow stuff, like Couldn't Call It Unexpected, is more going somewhere, less circling around the drain).

So, essentially, those are the only 2 worthwhile songs on Spike, right?

No, there's lots of good on there, and Tramp The Dirt Down is hopefully due for a revival. But Good Year For The Roses is the only great song on Almost Blue, it's true.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 21 March 2005 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

My vote: "I Want You" off "Blood and Chocolate".

I know someone who used this as opening song on their wedding dance.

nathalie barefoot in the head (stevie nixed), Monday, 21 March 2005 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

no one has said "hoover factory" yet so i shall

mark s (mark s), Monday, 21 March 2005 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, if you're gonna go there, I'll say "Radio Sweetheart" (followed by "Tiny Steps.")

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 21 March 2005 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

"Hoover Factory" or "King Horse"

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Monday, 21 March 2005 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, yeah a writeup I did for the Chicago Reader is on that EC webpage.

"Temptation," God help me.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Monday, 21 March 2005 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw at least one of your by-lines in there- how many can you find?

I hope this wasn't addressed to me--my byline doesn't generally accompany music writing. It's a shy little byline.

Anyway if it was addressed to me, I think that I am not who I think you think I am.

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Monday, 21 March 2005 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

No, it wasn't you Mad P, it was lovebug starski.

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 21 March 2005 19:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, thansk, Ken L! I found a long-forgotten review I wrote of his 2002 Miami show!

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Monday, 21 March 2005 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah, the other really good song on Spike is Last Boat Leaving (the last song). Really Elvis knows how to finish an album, they always have incredible closers.

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 07:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Never a Costello lover, but Blood And Chocolate's opening 1-2-3 punch of "Uncomplicated" and "I Hope You're Happy Now" and "Tokyo Storm Warning" is my favourite bit of sustained Elvis. I've got Girls Girls Girls and This Year's Model and that's all I'll ever need. As for "I Want You", I haven't heard it in years, so I have no idea how it measures up to Bob Dylan's "I Want You," or the Beatles' "I Want You," or the Beau Brummells' or Melissa Etheridge's or the Troggs' or Marvin Gaye's or Kiss' or...

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 08:25 (twenty-one years ago)

costello's song is kind of a one-trick pony

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

long time EC nerd, first time ILM poster.

i can always come back to his catalog and find something new and great. most recent rediscovery: you little fool - imperial bedroom.

nattles, Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

is the delivery man any good? I didn't buy it when it came out, just now gave part of it a listen, first track is alright, but the whole thing seems a little unmemorable to me so far.

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

So basically I'm getting the sense that I should hear Blood And Chocolate.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't like it too much but I seem to be in the minority.

Ken L (Ken L), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Blood and Chocolate is easily my favorite of his albums.

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I think B&C is a great record, but I don't think it works its magic as immediately as the early records (MAIT, TYM, AF). That can probably be said for a lot of the EC catalog -- the later you get in date, the less immediate the results upon listening.

nattles, Tuesday, 22 March 2005 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I am lapsed Costellogian.

I never have never even listened to most of his WB material. I find it hard to say what is his best song...I would almost say the real obvious "Alison" and "Watching the Detectives" because they seem to me the simplest, or most direct, or coverable? Hmm. I greatly enjoy, as songs and as records, "New Amsterdam" and "Pidgin English" and "This Year's Girl" and "Lipstick Vogue." And most of "Trust"--"Clubland" is great. And "Tokyo Storm Warning." But I am not so sure most of the above work as *songs*--constructs or something pretentious like that seems a better word? "Shipbuilding" is a good song, I like Robert Wyatt's version better than EC's. I like that arcana like "Ghost Train" and "Hoover Factory" and "Clean Money," too. I never quite got why people like "Veronica" myself, that always seemed like a half-good song and a lousy record.

So, I guess it's really "Alison." As lame as that sounds, especially to me. As a *song*. But it's hardly my favorite record by him, "Imperial Bedroom" is far more accomplished and I guess as songs "Boy with a Problem" and "Man Out of Time" are both pretty damned good too. "Watch Your Step" isn't bad. This is making my head hurt.
