Official Forums on a band's website: C or D?

I've seen a handful of forums that are great, but they're definitely in the minority. Sometimes something useful comes out, like the recent James Murphy posting that was noted on ILM where he addressed complaints about copy protection, etc. Then there's the official efforts that are just short of street team promotion where a few paid promo staff keep trying to spurn interest.

So, anything good? Bands that have a useful forum? Particularly awful ones?

yeah they're a bit of a dud in the main. They can be good if you're after big, passionate arguments about an artist's new record.

I say classic esp. if the artist makes embarassing and drunken posts at 3 AM.

Damn these threads never go anywhere which is a shame... but I did like that story about the Placebo site - maybe that's the last word anyway, together with the Orbital story it sums up how these things tend to go.
