Can someone please direct me to a site where I can find "Art Bears" stuff?

The things I like seem to point me in this direction (among many others). Finding the albums locally would be great, but people look at me like I'm crazy when I ask. So, thanks, if possible...

Ummm...mp3 samples would be great too, so I can avoid buying more crap that I don't need. I will return in kind, if yer looking for anything.

This is your place:

The Art Bears box sets are excellent, and highly recommended.

If you want mp3s, I'm sure a quick search on Soulseek will do you for that.

short samples though. you need the albums. start with either 'world as it is today' or 'winter songs'. if you download the song 'rats and monkeys' and like it, that's a good sign. I'd g-mail you that if I had it handy...

I say just go for one of the sets and get them all in one fell swoop.

I=stupid with the technology...so, what the hell is soulseek, and where do I find it?

Before the headslapping begins, it seems that yes, I have in fact been living in a cave. Who knew?

Nevermind. I found it. Unfortunately, I am on a mac, so unless there is an alternate means, I'm out of luck. Judging by the samples, I'll probably just try to find the albums on my continent somewhere.

Amazon UK has everything you'd want (except Hopes and Fears, I think, which Amazon US sells).

Was anyone else disappointed with the packaging on the Box Set? Shit is Fugly!

Dr. Gene Scott (shinybeast), Friday, 25 March 2005 07:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Which one? The old decorative collectors box is beautiful. It's like a nice tobacco box, and all the albums are packaged in slips with all the original lp art arranged as it was on the original pressings. It looks like a table piece. The new one, while featuring some interesting additions musically, is pretty ugly.

what is the "old" box set? not the Art Box one?

if USA is your continent: http://www.rerusa.com/ has paypal / visa. if you order two CDs, they include another 2 CD compilation overview of the last 25 years of ReR.

now's a good time to order lots of ReR stuff.

You'll all be glad to know that I have now sucumbed to temptation and bought the box set, ugly or not. While I was at it, I also bought Charming Hostess - Punch. Thanks for all the help, and if anyone wants gmailed stuff from the additional albums, I'll be glad to oblige.

I knew there was a point to joining this ILM deal...

John Justen (johnjusten), Saturday, 26 March 2005 02:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Charming Hostess album is pretty good, though I read it was done in 1999 and only released now.

Box set, IMO is kind of overkill with the extras (so many, that my Etienne Conod interview was included separately) - but keep your ears open for the Wobbly remix. ;)

Dominique (dleone), Saturday, 26 March 2005 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

the Dimuzio & the Utsonomiya are my favorites on the remix discs, which contain many good things though I'm not sure they work as albums.

you see this thread d? Charming Hostess

what is the "old" box set? not the Art Box one?

The Art Box is the only set available now, i guess. The old one, which doesn't feature any real extras, came in slips in a nice opening box with the artwork from "Winter Songs" on it. The Art Box is the new one with the slip box and the only one now available at RER apparently.
