Because it is rubbish?

Comstock Carabinieri (nostudium), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 05:57 (twenty-one years ago)

youre a whole rotten dumpster!

cg, Wednesday, 11 May 2005 05:59 (twenty-one years ago)

some discussion of it here: Search and Destroy: Mariah Carey

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:00 (twenty-one years ago)

No, you are the whole rotten dumpster because you fail to realise that Mariah Carey is committing commercial suicide much as she has tried to commit suicide in real life. She has moved away from her early melodic songs like "Without You" and "Save The Best For Last" and now deals in horrid discordant hip hop which nobody buys except idiots and pimps.

Comstock Carabinieri (nostudium), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Just call me the Idiot Pimp, then.

Bobby Peru (Bobby Peru), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Commercial suicide? It's her first #1 album in at least half a decade! And she's been doing hip hop since about '95 or so. And I think you're overestimating the number of pimps in the world.

Mike O. (Mike Ouderkirk), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:07 (twenty-one years ago)

In the UK it peaked at a miserable #7 and disappeared from the charts altogether after just a few weeks. This proves the superior intelligence of European musical consumers - we are not taken in by this fraudulent hiphop humbug.

Comstock Carabinieri (nostudium), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I really want to hear this, 'It's Like That' is still amazingly hot.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:18 (twenty-one years ago)

thank you Al

ef, Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think Geir is even online right now.

Mike O. (Mike Ouderkirk), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Jesus christ this guy sucks, stop whining.

Anyway yeah, good album, "Secret Love" is my favorite.

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:31 (twenty-one years ago)

No you guy suck, stop whining. If more musicians today stopped sucking and whining and learned how to write melodies and sing them, people would perhaps be shot less, in the streets.

Comstock Carabinieri (nostudium), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a question, what is the song that is sampled for 'we belong together' (its the same as lovers and friends) and what song does the 'we belong together' hook come from (if its a different one)?

seg, Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:37 (twenty-one years ago)

...the lyrics are about listening to and being tortured by bobby womack and babyface on the radio

fg, Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

people would perhaps be shot less, in the streets.

Hahahahaha! Oh man, this is so true. I hear in Europe, they've been doing house calls since like '95 or some shit.

Dave M (Dave M), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:52 (twenty-one years ago)

"Save the Best for Last" is Vanessa Williams.

My only thought on Mariah Carey is that every time I see her, I wonder why she thinks dying her hair to match her skin is a good look.

Lyra Jane (Lyra Jane), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...

this is one of the best albums evah. listened to it this morning after aaaaaages. i love mariah. even power ballad era mariah (though mainly for emotions and songs like that).

titchyschneiderMk2, Thursday, 7 June 2007 12:28 (nineteen years ago)

although the guest rappers really dont need to be on ANY of the songs theyre on, i dont think theres a bad song on this.

titchyschneiderMk2, Thursday, 7 June 2007 12:35 (nineteen years ago)

this was a really good album, and the anemic response ILM gave it confuses me.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 7 June 2007 20:48 (nineteen years ago)

I'd say Fatman Scoop is pretty essential on "It's Like That" and Nelly is pretty great on "To The Floor."

But yeah, lack of ILM love is bewildering although there is some discussion of the singles
on this thread

danzig, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:27 (nineteen years ago)

The only R&B whatever album I listened to in 2005. It's great, I thought everyone knew that?

sonderangerbot, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:59 (nineteen years ago)

five months pass...

wow this album as a whole does REALLY REALLY hold up

Surmounter, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:56 (eighteen years ago)

yea i don't really think there's a bad song ,and while the guest rapping isn't necessary for me, i don't absolutely hate it either

Surmounter, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

lol @ people being taken in by Comstock

The Reverend, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:25 (eighteen years ago)
