Who's Producing The New Madonna Record?

Is it still Mirwais? I like his production style - he's a kind of anti-Jon Brion - but I don't imagine she would keep working with him after the drubbing American Life got.

If Madonna had any sense, she would have gotten Diplo, I guess. I am willing to get he'll get a remix thrown his way.

I heard it was all going be whispery and rude.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

Hmm, I figured it would be her panicked post-flop back-to-the-basics move, a la All That You Can't Leave Behind. Which would mean something Trevor Horny in terms of sound.

Kanye?

Voodoo Child, Friday, 19 August 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

Rolling Stone reported she was recording in Jacques LuCont's apt in the issue with Coldplay on the cover.

"Rolling Stone reported she was recording a Coldplay cover in Jacques LuCont's apt" [spit take] Oh wait, OK

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

Jacques Lu Cont is the latest rumor. If it's true, I'll be a happy camper.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:35 (twenty years ago)

If his cover of "Hollywood" is any indication, that's a great move.

Now wait a sec: her album is slated for release in November and there is no official producer?!

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:36 (twenty years ago)

So... Madonna is working on a new albm with Mirwais again...

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:37 (twenty years ago)

Wasn't that just a rumor as well?

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Friday, 19 August 2005 18:42 (twenty years ago)

from her site:
-----
A few weeks ago Madonna.com reported that HUNG UP is going to be the first single off the new album. We are now happy to tell you that HUNG UP will debut at radio on October 17th!

Not only that, but Madonna.com is pleased to announce the release date for Madonna's new All Dance Album. Madonna fans all over the world can rejoice, because the album release date is currently scheduled for November 15, 2005! Put your dancing shoes on and plan a date with your best friends to the clubs, because October & November are going to rule!
----

They talk about it like there's the regular album and then there's another, ALL DANCE album. Or maybe they're just too eager to assure the public there will be no acoustic songs about yoga on this one?

Roz (Roz), Monday, 19 September 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

Yikes. sorry about the size.

Roz (Roz), Monday, 19 September 2005 12:28 (twenty years ago)

That's more like it. I hope yours is the correct one. The other came from amazon and she looks pretty poorly.

Alex in Sheffield (Alex in Doncaster), Monday, 19 September 2005 12:31 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I like this one better too, though the Madonna font is kinda tacky.

Madonna - Confessions on a Dancefloor (what a shite title!)

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Monday, 19 September 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

Can someone tell me on which songs Diplo's rep of producing prowess rests?

Piracy Funds Careerism

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Monday, 19 September 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

It's pretty ridiculous to suggest that Madonna should draft in Diplo - it's not like she's competing with M.I.A, and Diplo's cred is mainly among a) people who are unlikely to buy Madonna no matter who produces, and/or b) downloaders.

Theoretically, Jacques Lu Cont is the perfect choice. But I don't think success is by any means guaranteed.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 19 September 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

It should have been produced by that Swedish guy that did "Crazy Chick" and "Take Me Out", duh.

And what exactly was Mirwais's status before she took him on board?

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 02:14 (twenty years ago)

Who said Mirwais was a particularly good idea?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 02:50 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
So allegedly she's working with Timbaland, The Neptunes, Swizz Beats, and Stuart/JLC on new material...

The Brainwasher, Saturday, 17 March 2007 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

OK so, 2007 Madonna is 2004 Gwen Stefani aping 1995 Madonna.

Erroneous Botch, Saturday, 17 March 2007 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

I heard a rumour that Calvin Harris dude was involved somewhere....
