but i guess the realest, closest answer you're gonna get is Can anyone point me to this Diplo mix of '80s freestyle shit?

Alex in Wonderland (jaxon), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:24 (twenty years ago)

Chromeo has virtually nothing to do with freestyle.

The Shirley record is OK, but the best (-known) track on it is "As We Lay," a creepily sparse ballad.

Richj (Rich), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:46 (twenty years ago)

perhaps that is why chromeo blow

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:48 (twenty years ago)

i'm not saying chromeo are freestyle, but they're trying to do an 80s electro & rnb thing. add that to a female pop singer and what do you have?

should i have said Apollonia 6, Vanity 6, Shalamar, Oddysey, Evelyn Champagne King?

Alex in Wonderland (jaxon), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:54 (twenty years ago)

and i'm sure Kraftwerk are super duper high up on both chromeo's and freestyles borrow-from list

Alex in Wonderland (jaxon), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:55 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:44 (twenty years ago)

how can you resist "Needy Girl" & "You;re So Gangsta"?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:09 (twenty years ago)

Easily, at least re: the second one. "Needy Girl" is pretty good though.
