I'm dubious over whether my computer will run it well, but since Doom 3 runs smoothly, assuming they haven't completely changed the engine things should be okay...

Firstly, the engine is splendid, and runs A-okay. Raven have worked on behalf of id for a while now (Did they do both Quake 2 expansions? Or just one?) and I certainly trust them to do a good job.
The level design is top-notch, and the sequencing is great. It's a shame that the plot twist has been so vocally publicised by id, as not knowing would have been more enjoyable I think...

My style of playing FPS games tends to be very catious and thorough, exploring and sniping--I've discovered that this is completely incompatible with Doom 3. Running around like a mentalist and shooting is the prescribed method for maximum enjoyment...
