i wish i'd ever done this because it would set a good example, but i've never started a thread as logged-out!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 28 July 2005 19:46 (twenty years ago)

special thanks to dr. glen and forest pines for inspiring this thread though.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 28 July 2005 19:46 (twenty years ago)

No problem!

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 28 July 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I should have put the link in, shouldn't I.

Classic or Dud: Trying to get back in touch with someone you had a crush on ten years ago. Even though it's probably an awful idea. For god' sake, someone stop me.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 28 July 2005 19:48 (twenty years ago)

no takers, huh?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 28 July 2005 23:49 (twenty years ago)

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 28 July 2005 23:54 (twenty years ago)

Am I the biggest Joy Division fan?

Dr. Glen Y. Abreu (dr g), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:01 (twenty years ago)

hahaha! really?

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:04 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure I started this one:

anon aim

RJG (RJG), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:07 (twenty years ago)

fart songs POX

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:08 (twenty years ago)

hahaha! really?

Yeah, there may have been other ILM baiting threads. Actually, I'm sure there were others, but that's my favorite.

Dr. Glen Y. Abreu (dr g), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:10 (twenty years ago)

i vaguely recall starting an anonythread once but i don't remember what it was

Oh, I do ;)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:10 (twenty years ago)

DOOOOOOOOOOOO tell!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:10 (twenty years ago)

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:15 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:16 (twenty years ago)

i did this once, but i revealed my identity in like the third post.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 29 July 2005 00:49 (twenty years ago)

I've never started a logged out post, but then I rarely ask for help here anyway (though I have thought about doing so a few times).

I understand that people might be embarrassed to say who they are when asking for advice on delicate issues, but I'm sure it would sometimes be easier to tailor your answer appropriately if you knew who you were dealing with. But maybe that's just me.

C J (C J), Friday, 29 July 2005 08:14 (twenty years ago)

I tend to agree, especially because people seem more ready to take the mickey out of anonymous posters, perhaps assuming they might be passersby or lurkers or googlers.

Me, I'm an open book :/ I dont think Ive asked for real advice on here more than once or twice though, and now I dont even remember what for.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 29 July 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

I think it was fairly obvious at the time which ones I started.

Masonic Boom (kate), Friday, 29 July 2005 08:27 (twenty years ago)

I started an anonymous thread but I'm pretty sure anyone who vaguely knows me worked it out within the first two sentences.

tissp! (the impossible shortest specia), Friday, 29 July 2005 08:28 (twenty years ago)

This was over a year ago, and the reason I did it anonymously was precisely the opposite - I wanted sensitive and serious answers, rather than people seeing it was me and just deciding to be dicks because they disliked me.

Masonic Boom (kate), Friday, 29 July 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

Haha wait I have made one anon post, I posted the other day saying I wanted to shag Fry from Futurama =) I figured it was so bleeding obvious that was me I didnt care anyway.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 29 July 2005 08:31 (twenty years ago)

but then you denied it!

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Friday, 29 July 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

No I didnt... eh? :)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 29 July 2005 08:34 (twenty years ago)

Aah. You posted afterwards saying it wasn't obvious which anon post was mine - but it could have been interpreted as saying it wasn't you who wanted to shag Fry. I was a bit unsure myself.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Friday, 29 July 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

Ah yes; no that was me saying I didnt know who you were, and I still dont actually! :|

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 29 July 2005 09:12 (twenty years ago)

I think we should move into eponymous threads, referring to ourselves in the third person and all, so heroic. At the moment I am watching Red Sonja so its all about heroism and gerontophilia

Menelaus Darcy (Menelaus Darcy), Friday, 29 July 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

So, ya wanna know about da movies, huh?

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 29 July 2005 09:35 (twenty years ago)

Fifth person threads, where in we describe from the point of view of a person overhearing a conversation about the events between the narrator and a fourth person.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Friday, 29 July 2005 09:40 (twenty years ago)

I've been trying to remember if I ever started any threads before I officially registered. It seems like I may have made a post or two under a different name when I first started checking in on this site. I just can't remember if I did do any of that or what name I may have possibly used.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 29 July 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

This was me:

At what point do you finally stop being angry?

I've since concluded that I'm just going to be pissed off at those two until I'm not anymore - whenever that happens. Seems to be the only thing that works when I've been royally dissed by someone close to me: let the anger boil until it slowly but surely evaporates.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 29 July 2005 13:36 (twenty years ago)

"DONUT" YOU WANT SOME DONUTS???

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 29 July 2005 13:51 (twenty years ago)

I always think about starting anonymous threads, and then somehow I'm convinced that everyone would know it was me. Like it'd just be transparent in the wording, or I'd forget to actually log out and make an idiot of myself, or all the mods would sit around checking the IPs and giggling.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:21 (twenty years ago)

ORNALDO BLOOMPS FOR PRESIDETN

TOMBOT, Friday, 29 July 2005 14:27 (twenty years ago)

I think I did once, it was some completely unnecessary retardedness with a picture of Chewbacca and like nothing else or something?

xpost like we didn't know

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

ive started one and one only, the one about the girl from the marketing department being in my shower. that happened after a work christmas party and i was still drunk. anyway this isn't much of a reveal as i already copped to it on another thread a while ago.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:30 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I have ever started an anonymous thread. I did come with a fake log-in name and "persona" but it only lasted a day or two and didn't create much of a splash and I don't even remember what it was so I can't search for the threads.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

dog latin, I really enjoyed "da movies" thead, I just didn't know what to say!

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

If all the non anon posting posters post saying that we didn't start and anon threads then we can work out who did by process of elimination...

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:35 (twenty years ago)

Is there anyone here who hasn't at some point tried (and failed) to create his or her own Garu G, Hunta-D, Connor Smedley, faux Gail Deslongchamps, or somesuch?

People should link to those, too.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:38 (twenty years ago)

I mean I've mentally developed like a half-dozen different subtle hilarious personas to introduce into ILX, and I make a new email and login and everything, and I post once or twice, and then I totally forget about it.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

Um yeah, I did, like I said a few posts ago.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

TOP SECRET: da troof

ken c (ken c), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:42 (twenty years ago)

(Dude Nick I saw, that's what prompted me to start talking about it! Link it, dude.)

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

I CAN'T LINK IT BECAUSE I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT THE NAME WAS AND IT WAS BORING

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:47 (twenty years ago)

link it!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:49 (twenty years ago)

who else thinks nick should link it?

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

Is there anyone here who hasn't at some point tried (and failed) to create his or her own Garu G, Hunta-D, Connor Smedley, faux Gail Deslongchamps, or somesuch?

Ha ha no.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

the new lance bass movie! r u excited?

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
Hello again. Found you.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed the connection between this thread and this one. Apart from them both being started by logged-out people, of course.
